NEW YORK: Kelsey Grammer, Television’s favorite psychiatrist for the owner of a nightclub French Riviera: Kelsey Grammar is set to star on Broadway in “La Cage aux Folles” (KAJ’-oh-LAH-Fahl) next spring.
Producer Sonia Friedman said that the revival of the 1983 Jerry Herman-Harvey Fierstein (of fire) Steen musical opens April 18 at the Longacre Theater. It builds on current successful production in London and will be showing the British star, Douglas Hodge. The director is Terry Johnson.
“La Cage” refers to the relationship between the club’s owner, represented by the grammar, and its star drag, the role played by Hodge.
