Kareena Kapoor I Am What I Am Because Of My Flops

Kareena Kapoor I Am What I Am Because Of My FlopsMUMBAI INDIA : Kareena Kapoor said that she would hate being known only for her looks and that being a superstar is about overcoming failures and not just delivering hits…

We met Kareena for a chat at Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra residence where she was beaming because of her newborn nephew and her week-long break to spend time with family. Kareena was surfing the net when we entered the tastefully done apartment. Saif left for some shopping when the interview began and came back later for a casual chat

How is life now that you have become a maasi for the second time?

Absolutely amazing. The baby boy (Kiaan) is really cute. Samaria looks so much like Sunjay (Kapur) but the newborn looks just like Karisma. It’s celebration time as the family has a boy after a long time.

3 Idiots has smashed all box-office records and you have managed to hold your ground in an Aamir Khan film. Comment.

I think it’s also because it is a Raju Hirani film. It’s the first time and Aamir and I starred together so there were a lot of expectations. I feel that I make the best pair with Aamir.

You only did the film because of Aamir and Raju.

In each of my films, good or bad, I have always stood out irrespective of the presence of other actors. I am doing Ra.One and I have fantastic roles in Agent Vinod and Golmaal 3. I have strived really hard to be known first as an actor then a star. I would hate it if someone tells me that I looked very good in my films and I hope that I am cast for my talent and not for my beauty.

I am here to sell my talent and I take great pride when I am offered a role in a boys’ film like 3 Idiots. I think my audience no longer likes me in films like Kambakkth Ishq and honestly I have realised that I won’t make that mistake again.

Kurbaan got good reviews but it didn’t work.

An actor is an actor because of failures, not success. A superstar is one who overcomes failures and people remember how good you are in a film, which has not worked. I am what I am because of my flops. Anybody can give two super hits and become number one.

Is there a long thought process before signing a film now?

Sometimes there is no thought process at all. We actors are like scientists who keep on experimenting. People should know that Kareena takes risks and I did Chameli when I was 23 years old. I don’t care about what people say about Tashan as I gave everything to the film by changing my body. How many actresses have the courage to take up the challenge of transforming themselves especially in this male dominated industry? Tashan was an achievement as I also met Saif during the film. Sometimes flop films and not hits is great news for actors.

How do you mange to have a good equation with all the Khans?

I have chosen the safest Khan for my personal life. I don’t know if there are any sides as all of them are really different. Saif and I are great friends with Aamir and Shah Rukh is like family. My sister loves Salman.

It’s said that you are the highest paid actress in the industry today. Is it true?

I don’t know. You tell me as every day there are reports that so and so is charging so much. If there is a list on highest paid actresses, I want to be number ten.

But the rivalry is evident when it comes to endorsements.

A brand will sign me if they think I am good. There are only three shampoos and three soaps in the market so where does the question of who is the most wanted actress arise? Everybody has brands to endorse.

How do you manage to take frequent breaks given your busy schedule?

I take lot of off time as it’s very important for an actor to work do great work and take breaks. I must spend time with family and my loved ones or else I will just wear off, I will die, and my looks will fade. I do four movies and 12 brands a year so I need to travel all over the world and explore, which also shows in my acting. I have instructed Zahid (secretary) that after every three months I need to have a break for at least a week to look rejuvenated.

Although I appreciate people who want to work all year, I can’t do it.

There is so much speculation about your and Saif’s relationship and wedding. Does it affect you?

We have been open about our relationship and that’s why we are the hottest couple. If we get married now there will be no curiosity. We are enjoying all the attention and are used to news about us getting married and breaking up all the time. Whenever we get married, we will let the world will know.

Are wedding bells five years down the line?

It will be much lesser than that. (Laughs)

News is that you are buying an IPL team with Saif?

We did go for the bidding and we had all the papers in place but it got cancelled. If we are rebidding, it will be Saif’s call. I don’t understand cricket but Saif follows it. Movies are my only passion.

There are reports that you and Saif are planning a joint production house?

I want directors and producers to make films for me. I don’t want to make films for myself. Professionally we are dramatically different as I sign a film saying ‘let’s do it’ while Saif won’t do a film till he is 100 per cent sure.

Are you doing Madhur Bhandarkar’s next film?

I would love to work with Madhur. We are working on a script but nothing has been finalised yet.

What about Milenge Milenge and the constant issues about Shahid Kapoor?

These talks have resurfaced as Milenge Milenge will soon release. I have told Boney Kapoor (producer) that I am ready to promote the film. As for reports about Shahid and me, I am used to it.

The Story of Stuff

The Story of Stuff is a polemical animated documentary about the life-cycle of material goods.31366e9838stuff The Story of Stuff

Activist Annie Leonard wrote and narrated the film. Tides Foundation, The Funders Workgroup for Sustainable Production and Consumption, Free Range Studios and other foundations funded the film.[2] Free Range Studios produced it. It was first launched online on December 4, 2007.

The documentary is being used in elementary schools, arts programs, and post-graduate economics classes[dubious – discuss] as well as places of worship and corporate sustainability trainings. By February 2009, it had been seen in 228 countries and territories. According to the hosting site as of September 2009[update], it already had more than 7 million views.

Critics consider the documentary to contain incorrect and misleading information and/or to be politically partisan and liberal; this has led the school board of a Montana school district to ban use of the video in the classroom, citing its regulations on bias as justification.

You guessed right. These two will spend their Valentine’s Day far from the madding crowds of Mumbai, and then fly back in time to do some serious work. Bebo has tied up her projects for the year, but Saif is still refusing scripts. In fact, he is said to have shot down portions of the Agent Vinod script again, and there’s some serious reworking happening on his spy saga.

Dexter Season 4 Episode 10 Preview

Dexter Season 4 Episode 10 PreviewDexter Season 4 Episode 10 Preview, Will be forever remembered for introducing us to the Trinity Killer shuffle (who knew that John Lithgow was that nimble?). The enigma that is Arthur “Twinkletoes” Mitchell was further unfolded as we find out the genesis for his ritual of three kills. At the age of 10, he inadvertently caused the death of his sister in the bathtub, which in turn caused his mother to commit suicide by jumping off a building. Sometime after that, his father “died,” as he put it (more like he got pummeled by a hammer as Dexter puts it). Phew, that’s a lot of take in. Is that enough to push a man to a 30 year killing spree? In Trinity’s wacky case, the signs point to yes.

Back in Miami, the investigation is heating up and we’re thrown a curve ball in our presumption that Trinity shot Agent Lundy and Deb. Besides showing off her cool scar, Deb gets an epiphany that her bullet entry and exit paths suggest a level shot (not a downward trail expected from a 6?4? assailant). That leaves us pondering just who the heck pulled the trigger. No theories other than Trinity being the shooter seem sensible. Was it someone truly the height of Masuka? Was it someone kneeling or sitting in a parked car? Was it Anton in a crime of passion? Was it the reporter Christine in a bizarre (and unbelievable) attempt to “create” news? That’s way too large a pill to swallow. But Trinity seems too easy and I’m betting we don’t have all the necessary info yet. The writers always have a bunny in their hat. And I hope it’s good, because the legacy of this season is riding on this one important reveal.

Meanwhile, the rest of the show does its best impersonation of a soap opera. Ok, so I’m exaggerating just a tad, but have your pick at which romantic thread is the most barf-inducing. Will any of these storylines (Batista / Laguerta, Rita / the neighbor, Quinn / Christine) be game-changing or will they fade into nothingness? Of course, the Quinn / Christine relationship has been a major plot driver this season and seems like it will continue to be (Deb granting Christine the interview is going to put someone in danger, whether it be Christine, Deb or Dexter). For the other two hookups, some serious repercussions can drop if they’re ever brought into the light. I’m betting that the Laguerta / Batista escapade will end with them getting caught with one getting fired / reprimanded. Meanwhile, I don’t necessarily believe that the disgruntled Rita will all-out cheat on Dexter, but that she will back away at the last minute. But, if she is caught – will this push Dexter to feelings of jealousy? Is he even capable of feeling jealous?

Oh, and before I forget – where the heck was Harry this week? Is his ghost only allowed to stay in Miami city limits? Dexter’s conscious is probably taking a break after killing the innocent photographer, so Harry is subdued while Dexter focuses on killing Trinity.

There’s only four episodes left. We’re only left to speculate based on the facts so far and what next week’s previews show. Judging by the brief glimpse, we may just have to consider Trinity’s son Jonah as the shooter, who is seemingly disgruntled at how mean his father is (yet another large pill to swallow). Regardless, the shooter has to have some connection back to Trinity otherwise it will cheapen the story of this season. Meanwhile, Rita again finds herself the target of her neighbor’s advances .

The groundwork is laid out for the final stretch and this ship could go in any direction; there’s just too many different options on the table. Buckle your seat belts, because the last 4 episodes are going to be bumpy.

Tony Fein Dead

Tony Fein DeadTony Fein Dead, Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker and Iraq War veteran Tony Fein died early Tuesday morning in his hometown of Port Orchard, Wash., according to his agent Milton D. Hobbs. The cause of death wasn’t immediately known, but an emergency room official at Harrison Medical Center said that Fein was admitted Tuesday morning before he died. The time of death was 10 a.m. PST

Fein was 27 years old.

“It’s just extremely sad,” Hobbs told the Jackson Clarion-Ledger. “I’ve talked to members of his family and some of his friends. We don’t want to speculate on the cause of death right now out of respect for his family.”

An undrafted rookie free agent from Ole Miss, Fein was released by the Ravens during their final major round of cuts.

Fein didn’t have any reported health problems or injuries during his stint with the Ravens. “It’s a shock,” D.J. Sigurdson, Fein’s football coach at South Kitsaps High School, said in a telephone interview late Tuesday night. “I can’t believe it.”

Fein enlisted in the Army at age 19 after graduating from high school in Port Orchard, Wash. He served in the Persian Gulf primarily as a Delta scout before being honorably discharged after a three-year enlistment.

“Being in the military really was a life-changing experience,” Fein told the Carroll County Times during a training camp interview in August. “It makes you grow up fast. It teaches you a lot about teamwork and doing your job.

“It’s kind of similar to football. Everyone has to do their exact job. It’s the same thing in the military. The Army is the ultimate team, and that falls right in line with football.”

Fein was involved in a controversy while with the Ravens.

He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault on a police officer during an incident at a Johnny Rockets restaurant in the Inner Harbor prior to a preseason game.

According to a police report, Fein initially refused to stand up when police officers approached him after being notified by security guards that a group of men were passing around a large, silver metallic object believed to be a gun that was actually a cellular phone.

When asked to stand again, Fein allegedly shoved an officer in the chest and was arrested. Hobbs accused the police of racial profiling, an allegation the Baltimore City police department vehemently denied.

At Ole Miss, Fein started at middle linebacker and recorded 136 career tackles in two seasons. A former high school quarterback, Fein finished second on the team in tackles as a junior. However, he was benched for a short period.

Then, Fein was nearly booted off the team by new Rebels coach Houston Nutt before eventually winning over the coaching staff with his work ethic.

It was Fein who recorded a pivotal tackle in the Rebels’ upset victory over then-No. 1 Florida prior to a Cotton Bowl win over Texas Tech last season.

Fein also won the Pat Tillman award, which is presented to a college athlete who has fought on a battlefield like the late Arizona Cardinals safety who was accidentally killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan.

At Ole Miss’ campus Pro Day, Fein opened some NFL scouts’ eyes when he bench-pressed 225 pounds 29 times, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.65 seconds and registered a vertical leap of 37 1/2 inches and a 10-1 broad jump.

He was signed by Baltimore after trying out at a rookie minicamp in June following an unsuccessful tryout with the Seattle Seahawks.

Per Hobbs, Fein had been working out back in Port Orchard and hoping for another chance to play football.
