The transporters hold a protest demonstration against the alleged misbehavior of the traffic wardens, which turned agitational owing to police mismanagement at Lahore-Kasur Road.
However, the police rushed the site and resorted to baton-charge, gas shelling and aerial firing. Upon this, the protesters turned angry and set alight around seven buses and broke glasses of many others.
Smoke enveloped the whole area after the torching incident. Police also arrested many of the demonstrators.
Meanwhile, rejecting the allegations, the traffic wardens maintained that they never did anything outside their duty ambit.

LAHORE, Pakistan News: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer Sunday reiterating Pakistan People’s Party’s stance said no one will succumb to pressure from any side and that no member of his party will resign despite allegations.

Talking to media, Salman Taseer said the democracy will stop to function if people indulged in interfering in each others affairs.

“We have struggled hard for the cause of democracy,” he said, adding, “and now I have become the biggest terrorist just because a number of false cases have been built against me.”

Salman Taseer said justice should not only be for PPP but also for the 160 million people of the country.

Christina Ambers, Hand model Christina Ambers sues building for $10M over alleged mistreatment since she wed doorman

A famous foot model is suing her stuffy upper East Side building because workers there made her life miserable after she fell head over heels for a doorman.

Christina Ambers, once dubbed the “Heidi Klum of foot models,” says a romance with her porter-turned-husband, Angel Rotger, turned her into a pariah among workers at 340 E. 74th St., who made her hail taxis and retrieve packages on her own.

“I hope that people can understand how awful it is to come home and to then be treated with hostility in a building where I have paid a lot of money to live,” Ambers told the Daily News. “Nobody should have to live this way.”

The brown-haired beauty, whose hands and feet have starred in ad campaigns for Maybelline, Harry Winston and the TV show “Rescue Me,” married Rotger in July after he swept her off her feet in 2007 while he was working at the building.

“The people in this building need to come into the 21st century,” Ambers said. “I fell in love with Angel because he is a sweet, caring man – how dare they look down on us!”

The “Upstairs, Downstairs” relationship cost Rotger his job, the suit says, and exposed the couple to torrents of abuse – including a painful August encounter between Rotger’s private parts and the handbag of the building superintendent’s wife.

The $10 million suit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, accuses the super’s wife – identified by building residents as Kristin Purcell – of boozily slugging Rotger in the groin.

“He made his way to the hospital and was diagnosed with a contusion,” Ambers said. “Can you imagine how hard she must have hit him to have caused a contusion?”

Ambers, who bought her 700-square-foot apartment in 2003, previously tangled with building management over problems with her floor that she said were caused by a leak. The feud grew even uglier once she paired off with Rotger.

“It seems that Christina has breached some type of social order that existed in that building,” said Joshua Price, a lawyer for the newlyweds. “There’s no question that they’ve been made to feel like outcasts.”

A lawyer for the building said the co-op board firmly backs building super Martin Purcell and his wife.

“The board will vigorously defend the allegations made by Ms. Ambers,” Joe Colbert said. “The claims have no merit.”

Martin Purcell declined to comment, and his wife could not be reached.

Residents in the building, also known as the Avon House, trashed Ambers as a potty-mouthed neighbor from hell who parades around in skimpy outfits.

“She’s the biggest problem in the building,” griped one woman, who declined to give her name.

New York magazine called Ambers – who wears size 8-1/2 shoes – the “Heidi Klum” of the foot and hand set during a career in which she also has modeled for Anne Klein, Oil of Olay and Heineken.more

JALANDHAR: Five persons, including an NRI Couple , were booked for allegedly raping and threatening the victim two sisters at their (NRI’s) residence in Nakodar area of the district.

Incident came to light today when two sisters in their complaint to police today alleged that yesterday evening they along with their mother were taken to an NRI’s residence for preparing food, by Charanjit Singh, Driver of the NRI identified as Jasbir Singh, who recently returned from England, Police sources said.

The complainant alleged that the NRI deliberately sent Gurmeet Kaur, mother the sisters to market for some work and later on forcibly raped them, police said adding that the victims alleged that they were raped by Charanjit Singh (Driver) and his friend Gurcharan Singh also apart from the NRI.

The victims further alleged that wife of the NRI, Kamaljit Kaur along with one more person identified as Manga also came to the spot of crime, but instead of helping the victims, she threatened them of dire consequences, if they would report the matter to police, sources said.

When the victim sisters narrated the whole story to their mother, they decided to report the matter to the concerned police station, sources said adding that medical examination of the victim sisters was conducted today to confirm the facts about the allegations of rape. ( PTI )

Wagah: Pakistan has rejected Indian allegations that Pakistani forces launched missiles on the territory of India and said it is internal matter of India.

Pakistan Rangers after the explosion at the Wagah border, began a search in a village near the border. Later, an urgent meeting of the Rangers and Indian Border Security Force was held at Wagah Border.

An official of the BSF in the meeting said Pakistani forces had fired rockets at the Indian territory near the border, while a Rangers spokesman Nadeem Raza Pak rejects the allegations and said India imported the incident was India’s internal.

He said they opened fire on Pakistani territory, but received no response to avoid aggravating tensions between the two countries.

LAHORE: Additional District & Sessions Judge Shafiq-ur-Rehman Saturday granted pre arrest bail to filmstar Meera alongwith five of her family members till September 11.

The court also directed the accused to appear before the police for investigation into the case registered against them.

Meera talking to media after grant of bail said that all of the allegations levelled against her and family members were baseless.

Defence A Police had registered a case under sections 380 and 506 for theft as well as intimidation charges against Meera, her father Sarwar, mother Shafqat Zuhra, Ahsan (brother), Rahil (brother in law) and other five unidentified persons on Sept 4 but failed to arrest the accused.
