Christina Ambers

Christina Ambers, Hand model Christina Ambers sues building for $10M over alleged mistreatment since she wed doorman

Christina AmbersA famous foot model is suing her stuffy upper East Side building because workers there made her life miserable after she fell head over heels for a doorman.

Christina Ambers, once dubbed the “Heidi Klum of foot models,” says a romance with her porter-turned-husband, Angel Rotger, turned her into a pariah among workers at 340 E. 74th St., who made her hail taxis and retrieve packages on her own.

“I hope that people can understand how awful it is to come home and to then be treated with hostility in a building where I have paid a lot of money to live,” Ambers told the Daily News. “Nobody should have to live this way.”

The brown-haired beauty, whose hands and feet have starred in ad campaigns for Maybelline, Harry Winston and the TV show “Rescue Me,” married Rotger in July after he swept her off her feet in 2007 while he was working at the building.

“The people in this building need to come into the 21st century,” Ambers said. “I fell in love with Angel because he is a sweet, caring man – how dare they look down on us!”

The “Upstairs, Downstairs” relationship cost Rotger his job, the suit says, and exposed the couple to torrents of abuse – including a painful August encounter between Rotger’s private parts and the handbag of the building superintendent’s wife.

The $10 million suit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, accuses the super’s wife – identified by building residents as Kristin Purcell – of boozily slugging Rotger in the groin.

“He made his way to the hospital and was diagnosed with a contusion,” Ambers said. “Can you imagine how hard she must have hit him to have caused a contusion?”

Ambers, who bought her 700-square-foot apartment in 2003, previously tangled with building management over problems with her floor that she said were caused by a leak. The feud grew even uglier once she paired off with Rotger.

“It seems that Christina has breached some type of social order that existed in that building,” said Joshua Price, a lawyer for the newlyweds. “There’s no question that they’ve been made to feel like outcasts.”

A lawyer for the building said the co-op board firmly backs building super Martin Purcell and his wife.

“The board will vigorously defend the allegations made by Ms. Ambers,” Joe Colbert said. “The claims have no merit.”

Martin Purcell declined to comment, and his wife could not be reached.

Residents in the building, also known as the Avon House, trashed Ambers as a potty-mouthed neighbor from hell who parades around in skimpy outfits.

“She’s the biggest problem in the building,” griped one woman, who declined to give her name.

New York magazine called Ambers – who wears size 8-1/2 shoes – the “Heidi Klum” of the foot and hand set during a career in which she also has modeled for Anne Klein, Oil of Olay and Heineken.more

George Steinbrenner

George SteinbrennerLatest news updates about , George Steinbrenner cheers for Yankees as Yankees win the Pennant. Yankees outright victory over Angel was in sharp contrast to their outing against the same tem that they played two days ago. At that time Angels had tamed Yankees 6-7 giving a body blow to one of the best teams in the sport.

He was there on the field, applauding for his boys and supporting them throughout.

George Michael Steinbrenner III is an American billionaire businessman, and owner and the former principal executive of Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees. His outspokenness and role in driving up player salaries have made him one of the sport’s most controversial figures.

Steinbrenner is known as a hands-on executive, earning the nickname “The Boss”. His tendency to meddle in daily on-field decisions, and to hire and fire (and sometimes re-hire) managers led then-Yankees skipper Dallas Green to give him the derisive nickname “Manager George”.

While writing about George Steinbrenner, a biographer says, “Abusive, cruel, philanthropist, loyal, disloyal, good samaritan, phony, vengeful, manipulative, vindictive, delusional, a guy with a heart of gold, a real giver, financial deadbeat, bully, kind-hearted… Tampa Bay’s most famous resident, George Steinbrenner, has probably been called all these things and more at one time or another, but rarely have so many conflicting characterizations appeared in the space of one book. Now they have — in George: The Poor Little Rich Boy Who Built The Yankee Empire, the laugh-out-loud biography by St. Petersburg author Peter Golenbock”.

Australia Vs England ODI, Aus Win From 6 Wickets

Australia Vs England ODI, Aus Win From 6 WicketsSOUTHAMPTON: Australian batsman Cameron White scored a trouble-free century to consign England to a six-wicket defeat in the third one-day international in Southampton on Wednesday.

Chasing England’s 228 for nine, White (105) put on 143 for the third wicket with captain Michael Clarke (52) to take Australia to the brink of victory and the tourists rounded off the win with nine balls to spare.

Australian opener Tim Paine contributed with 29 and Callum Ferguson (20 not out) sealed the result as England’s bowlers struggled to capture wickets under the floodlights.

England captain Andrew Strauss once again led from the front with a solid 63 though he was poorly supported by the top order, and only Eoin Morgan (43) batting at six and Tim Bresnan (31 not out at eight) really took any fight to the Australian attack.

Mitchell Johnson bowled a controlled 10 overs, taking two scalps for 39 runs, while Shane Watson picked up three wickets later on in England’s innings.

The tourists now lead the seven-match series 3-0 and a win in the fourth one-day international at Lord’s on Saturday would clinch the series.

Jaycee Dugard Daughters Pictures

Jaycee Dugard Daughter's PhotoJaycee Lee Dugard’s daughters, Angel, 11, and Starlet, 15, were photographed attending a neighbor’s birthday party just two weeks before their true identities made headlines. (See photo below)

According to neighbor Cheyvonne Molino, there were no signs the girls were living in turmoil. “They were polite. They were well-mannered,” she said.

Garrido owned a small printing company, Printing for Less, which Dugard, whom customers knew as “Allissa” helped him run.

“She was always having a very pretty smile on the face,” said Deepal Karunaratne, who had real estate brochures printed. “She comes and talks to me and was always smiling. She was a very pretty girl, a very pretty young lady.”

Karunaratne did notice the children “were not dressed like average teenage girls. They were dressed very conservatively.”

The children also stood out to Lisa Campbell and Ally Jacobs, the officers who broke the case last week. “There were some things about him and the kids that were really alarming, that just didn’t settle right with me,” said Campbell.

Of the youngest daughter Jacobs said, “It was almost like she was looking into my soul… her eyes were so penetrating, and she had this smile on her face. I just got a weird, uneasy feeling.”

The girls are said to be distraught that their father, Phillip Garrido, is in jail.

Dugard was forced to tell her daughters that she had been kidnapped and held captive by their father for 18 years, after the girls became upset about him being arrested.

According to Jaycee’s stepfather, Carl Probyn, “He was the girls’ father – they all cried when he was arrested. Jaycee had to explain that she had been kidnapped. They were a family. They wept when he was captured. They were attached to each other. They thought Jaycee was their sister, They don’t realize she was kidnapped.”

Joann Behrman-Lippert, a psychologist who has researched child abductions, told The Times, “For these children their father is still their father, no matter what has happened. It’s very complex and not a black-or-white situation.”

Meanwhile, authorities are looking into whether Garrido may have been behind the disappearance of other young girls dating back to the late 1980s.

The FBI is combing Garrido’s property for evidence relating to unsolved cases.  Cadaver dogs unearthed a bone fragment on a neighboring property, but investigators have not yet determined whether it is human or animal.
