8 Injured in Bangladesh, India Border Fight

DHAKA: Eight Bangladeshi villagers were injured after border guards from Bangladesh and India traded gunfire over the weekend, a Bangladeshi commander said Monday.476bde3ab6fight 8 Injured in Bangladesh, India Border Fight
Maj. Kohinoor Alam, a border guard official of Bangladesh, said the skirmish occurred Sunday after Indian border security forces opened fire on Bangladeshi villagers along northeastern Jaintapur frontier.
He said the injured were being treated for bullet wounds, but none of them are in serious condition.
Alam said the Indian guards fired as the Bangladeshi villagers tried to prevent dozens of Indian villagers from fishing in a pond inside Bangladesh territory. Bangladeshi guards responded with fire.
The area is 120 miles (192 kilometers) northeast of Dhaka.
Bangladesh and India share a 2,500-mile (4,000 kilometer) porous border. Clashes between the border guards of the two neighbors are common, often over villagers crossing over into each other’s territory for farming or fishing.
The latest clash occurred three days after heads of both border forces held talks in New Delhi, India and agreed to scale down violence.

All-rounder Paul Collingwood closed in on his 10th Test century, racing to an unbeaten 86 at the break. Ian Bell was the other not-out batsman on 37.

Cook looked set to complete his maiden Test double-century before falling to off-spinner Mohammad Mahmudullah in the day’s 13th over, offering an easy return catch while attempting to pull a long-hop.

The left-handed opener, leading England for the first time in Tests, could add only 15 to his overnight score of 158. His previous best in Tests was 160 against the West Indies at home last year.

But there was no respite for Bangladesh as Collingwood and Bell continued to gather runs comfortably on an easy-paced pitch. The pair have so far put on 75 for the unfinished fifth wicket.

Collingwood, who was unbeaten on 32 on Friday, smashed the morning’s first six when he hoisted left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan over long-on and then completed his half-century with two runs off Mahmudullah.

Collingwood, who added 93 for the fourth wicket with Cook, has so far hit one six and six fours in his 20th Test half-century.

The second and final Test starts in Dhaka on March 20.

Russia Is Willing To Back Sanctions Against Iran

Russia Is Willing To Back Sanctions Against Iran Russia is willing to back sanctions against Iran so long as they are targeted and do not affect the civilian poupulation, President Dimitri Medvedev said at a news conference with his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy.
Speaking in Paris, Medvedev said he hoped that negotiations with Iran would come to an agreement without sanctions. But if we don’t get there, Russia is ready, with its partners, I have already said it, to have sanctions introduced, he said. These sanctions must be carefully weighed and must be sanctions that are intelligent ones. They must not be directed against the civilian population. He said that if sanctions were to be applied, they could not be punitive to the point of preventing further dialogue with the Iranian regime, which says its nuclear programme is purely for peaceful purposes. Significantly, Medvedev did not mention Iran in his opening comments, while the question was the first point that Sarkozy made in his. Asked about negotiations under way with the United States to cut nuclear weapons stockpiles, Medvedev said talks were advancing well and that negotiators were down to the fine print, with most substantive issues agreed.

Violence Over Taslima’s Article:Karnataka

Violence Over Taslima’s Article:KarnatakaClashes erupted in Hassan and Shimoga cities of India’s southern Karnataka state following publication of a controversial translated article of Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen in a leading Kannada daily.
Tension broke in Hassan when unidentified miscreants pelted stones on commercial establishments during a procession. As per media reports, several vehicles and shops were set ablaze. About 1500 people took to streets earlier on Monday to express anguish over the Kannada translation of Nasreen’s article on burqa (veil) tradition. The clashes took a communal turn when activists of several Hindu radical organisations also took to streets and started pelting stones on each other. Reportedly, situation was more serious in Shimoga district where protestors burnt about a dozen two wheelers, two tractors, two auto-rickshaws and pelted stones. Media reports say that one person was killed when police opened fire to quell the rioters in Shimoga. Another person succumbed to injuries sustained in stone pelting. Several people were critically injured and were hospitalised in both the districts following protests by Muslims over publication of Nasreen’s article. Concerned state authorities have imposed prohibitory orders in the both the districts to control the situation. Several vehicles including state transport corporation busses were damaged when protestors in the procession turned violent. Nasreen’s articles have sparked controversies earlier as well. Many radical Muslims hate this renowned writer for her critical opinion on religion that she has termed as an oppressive force. Nasreen fled Bangladesh for the first time in 1994 when a court said she had ‘deliberately and maliciously’ hurt Muslims’ religious feelings in her Bengali-language novel ‘Lajja’ meaning shame.

Cain Velasquez Vs Minotauro Nogueira

Cain Velasquez Vs Minotauro Nogueira, We’ll make some UFC 110 predictions on the main event between Cain Velasquez and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
fb4ab1cc79gueira Cain Velasquez Vs Minotauro Nogueira
The winner of tonight’s fight between Cain Velasquez and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira may very well be the next in line to challenge Brock Lesnar for the heavyweight title, and we’ll do our best to make winning UFC 110 predictions in this exciting main event brawl.

Before we make our UFC 110 predictions, the first thing we need to bring up is a rumor that has been floating around the internet the last few hours or so.  Word “on the street” is that Cain Velasquez is taking this fight against Nogueira despite the fact that he has some sort of neck injury that is causing him pain.  Regardless, it appears that Velasquez feels that he is capable of fighting through the supposed injury in an effort to move himself into the upper echelon of UFC heavyweights.

BoDog Sportsbook has the UFC 110 odds ready to go and it’s Nogueira who is currently a tiny favorite over Cain Velasquez.  This line has fluctuated quite a bit with line movements both ways, but it appears that “Big Nog” will enter the UFC 110 main event as the favorite on the betting odds unless something drastic happens in the next few hours.

Velasquez is another talented Arizona State wrestler who has made the crossover into mixed martial arts.  He simply smothers people on the ground and his endless cardio has made him one of the premier contenders in the UFC heavyweight division.  Velasquez has some issues to work out in his standup, but his endless punches keep his opponents backing up.

Nogueira is the former Pride and UFC heavyweight champion, and it’s never wise to count out experienced and accomplished veterans in your predictions.  The Brazilian is a ground master and has 20 submission victories to his credit.  Nogueira also has solid striking that combines some power with his ability to take strikes.

The UFC 110 betting predictions in the main event have to be to play the odds on Nogueira.  The injury concerns us, as does Velasquez’s step up in competition.  “Big Nog” is healthy, has the experience, and knows how to counter Velasquez’s best weapon (wrestling).

Make your own UFC 110 predictions against the Cain Velasquez vs Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira main event betting odds at BoDog Sportsbook and receive a 10% sign-up cash bonus for new customers.
