Dave Shelly And Chainsaw was a morning show on 101.5 KGB in San Diego, California and syndicated on Q103.3 in Temecula, California. It is named for its three main hosts, Dave Rickards, Shelly Dunn, and the “Dean of American Sportscasters”, Cookie “Chainsaw” Randolph.
The show airs from 6 to 10 a.m. Pacific Time and replays from 7 to 11 p.m. the same evening. The DSC are also available via KGB’s HD2 multicast called “All DSC, All the Time”, and portions of the show are on the KGB-FM podcasting page.
The show was originally called “The Dawn Patrol” during their first tenure on KGB Radio. When the group moved to Rock 102 (now Rock 105.3), they changed their name to simply “Dave, Shelly, and Chainsaw”. Clear Channel bought both Rock 105.3 and 101.5 KGB in 1997, and the show moved back to KGB-FM.
The radio show has releasing 18 best-of CDs and three motion pictures. The proceeds from the CD’s and DVD’s went to the DSC fund that helps San Diegans in need. No “best of” CD is planned for 2009, according to Dave. He cited that all the shows are available for download via the podcast.
On January 4th 2010, Brian Shock announced to KGB listeners that Dave, Shelly, and Chainsaw, were no longer the morning show on KGB.
