Lindsey Jacobellis

Latest Updates Jacobellis, Lindsey Jacobellis Bio, Jacobellis 4f91a0bd65bellis Lindsey JacobellisLindsey, Lindsay Jacobellis,Four years ago I dwelt with judgmental fascination on the Lindsey Jacobellis story. She was the U.S. Olympian who was way out in front near the end of the snowboard cross final race when she decided to throw a little hey-look-at-me move on a routine jump, took a spill on the landing and wound up in second place.Jacobellis compounded her idiocy by not copping to it. In her first post-wipeout interviews, she said she wasn’t styling for the cameras, oh no. She had to reach down and grab her board for “stability.”

No one believed that, so she tried the “I was just having fun with the sport” shrug, as though blowing the first women’s gold medal in this very exciting, very promising new Olympic event was all part of its carefree ethos.

Mary Carillo

Mary Carillo, I’ve never seen Mary Carillo as anything but a 4f1132f922arillo Mary Carillocommentator who covers the sport with insight and wit and as much objectivity as she can muster when certain players aren’t on the court. I’ve defended her around the Internet for years against accusations of ineptitude and far worse. When it comes to Serena Williams, I’ve found her criticism a bit acidic, but fair, giving her the benefit of my doubt, if I had any doubt about her feelings at all.

Tonight, she crossed a line.

She actually said from the broadcast booth that the world No. 1 and defending Australian Open champion is trying to start a gender war and that she got away with threatening murder.

I spit out my tea.

This from an analyst who doesn’t understand that having the best serve and having the best service games won statistics are two different measures of ability and execution. One’s an opinion, the other, a quantifiable fact.

Serena committed no crime, Mary Carillo. She wasn’t arrested and charged. She wasn’t handcuffed or dragged out of Arthur Ashe stadium in shackles.

Pam Shriver came armed and ready, as though she knew Mary would take her rant to another level during Serena’s second-round match. Sounded like Pam read from a page, bringing facts to the table and let her colleague and all of us know that no man in the NFL who had an actual physical altercation with an official was fined more than $25,000.

Mary Carillo has driven fans away from tonight’s broadcast because they didn’t want to hear any more of her slanderous vitriol.

ESPN, do the sport a favor and fire Mary Carillo. And if you can’t or won’t do that, then ban her from calling another Serena Williams match for the rest of her tenure with your corporation.

Extremist Hindus Target Indian TV Station

Extremist Hindus target Indian TV stationIndia: Extremist Hindus Target Indian TV Station, Seven people were arrested in Mumbai on Friday after activists from a hardline Hindu regional political party ransacked a television station’s offices and beat up staff.
About 25 men breached security at the Network 18 group premises in Vikhroli, in the east of the city, breaking glass windows with dustbins, overturning chairs and attacking journalists and other staff. “Seven people have been arrested. We will keep them in custody and go deep into this matter to find out why and how these things have happened,” Mumbai police chief D. Sivanandan said. The Network 18 group operates CNBC-TV18, which is India’s leading business channel, the English-language general news channel CNN-IBN and regional language equivalents, IBN-7 in Hindi, and IBN-Lokmat, in Marathi. The broadcaster said the IBN-7 and IBN-Lokmat newsrooms were targeted by the protesters, who were shouting slogans in support of the extremist Shiv Sena, a local political party that pushes a protectionist regional agenda. The network’s website said attackers told employees that they would not tolerate reports criticising Shiv Sena while TV pictures showed a Network 18 outside broadcast van also being targeted in Pune, southeast of Mumbai.
Last week, Shiv Sena’s ageing leader and figurehead Bal Thackeray criticised leading Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar for saying that he was an Indian first and that Mumbai, his home city, “belongs to all Indians”. Thackeray and party activists have been fighting — often literally — for the rights of people from Maharashtra state and promoting the Marathi language against “outsiders” since the 1960s. Media outlets have been targeted with violence before for criticising the party’s methods and ideology.
The chief minister of Maharahstra state, Ashok Chavan, told IBN-7: “I have told the police to take the strictest action possible against all the people behind it. I assure the media that this will not be tolerated at any cost.” India’s Broadcast Editors’ Association described the incident as “an attack on freedom of expression” and “the handiwork of elements who want to undermine the role of pen, microphone and camera”. “Such attacks go against the basic tenets of democracy and need to be condemned in the harshest possible terms,” it said in a statement.

Miley Cyrus Pole Dancing

miley cyrus pole dancingThe 16-year-old Disney star took another step along the Britney Spears career track this weekend with a pole-dancing performance at the Teen Choice Awards that some say sent the wrong message to her tween-age fans.

Cyrus, who has been piping up about broadening her appeal, busted out the provocative get-up to sing her song “Party in the USA” for a segment of the teen awards-fest taped Sunday and broadcast Monday night on Fox.

Halfway through the song, Cyrus climbed atop an ice cream cart and shimmied alongside a pole protruding from its top. But if you were surprised, offended or shocked by the move, you really shouldn’t be, say Miley-watchers – this has been coming for some time.

“She already has this risque image, so it really wasn’t much of a stretch,” says Us magazine senior editor Ian Drew. “That’s how Britney took off. She was the good girl gone bad, and it looks to be working for Miley as well.”

Ah, Brits: during the TCAs, Spears joined Cyrus to accept an award – a trophy Cyrus was proud to hand over “because I’m a big fan of hers.”

Fox refused further comment earlier Monday on the appearance, other than to confirm it would be included in the broadcast.

A spokeswoman for Disney, which makes “Hannah Montana,” said, “Disney Channel won’t be commenting on that performance, although parents can rest assured that all content presented on the Disney Channel is age-appropriate for our audience – kids 6-14 – and consistent with what our brand values are.”

A spokesman for Cyrus’ label, Hollywood Records, would not comment.

Cyrus is filming an adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel “The Last Song,” which casts her as a rebellious teen. She appeared in a bustier on the August 2009 cover of Elle. And of course, there were those 2008 Vanity Fair photos, where she was shot topless from behind by Annie Leibovitz.

While the transition to a more adult personage may work to her advantage careerwise, it’s a problem for the younger fans who idolize her as “Hannah” – and they are mostly “younger” fans, says West Islip child psychologist Wendi Fischer.

“She’s sending this message that this is ‘OK’ to do, and I don’t think it is OK to do,” Fischer said, of Miley’s sexualized performance. “Miley’s only 16. Why is she rushing it?”

Cyrus won six surfboard-shaped trophies at the TCAs, two for “Hannah” on TV, two for the “Hannah” movie, music single for “The Climb” and summer song for “Before the Storm.” The 11th annual TCAs were held at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Gibson Amphitheatre.

Vanessa Hudgens Leaked Pictures Online

vanessa hudgens leaked photoYoung actress Vanessa Hudgens, who shot to fame when she starred in the “High School Musical” movies, has shown that the recent online nude photo scandal has not bothered her, when she was seen smiling recently on the red carpet.

Alleged pictures of Vanessa nude have surfaced on the Internet recently, but many are saying that they are not really of her. This incident is only two years after another nude photo scandal came out about Vanessa.

But at the recent premiere of her new movie “Bandslam,” she looked very calm and was showing her fans that it wasn’t affecting her. Vanessa was embarrassed with the first incident, but she just seems to have taken it in her stride this time.
