Kanny Theng Picture

Kanny Theng Picture, Model Kanny Theng first caught my attention at  where she was one of the many Singapore girls featured. (Michelle Phan, also featured there, is one of the few from the U.S.) Even though that site hasn’t been updated in several months.864a589ce8icture Kanny Theng Picture

In addition to modeling at car shows, trade shows, and occasionally doing fashion and print work, she tells me she’s also done a bit of acting, having appeared in a few local TV shows.

Having been featured there the previous year, the readers of the Singapore entertainment website, Stomp, subsequently voted Kanny its STOMP MAXIMum Babe last June.

Rachael Harris

Rachael Harris remembers walking into her Notes from the Underbelly aba6ae45f0harris Rachael Harrisaudition thinking “I won’t get this role.” Not because she didn’t have the comedic background to play career-minded Cooper in the new ABC hit, but because of her petite physique. “I’m 5’1” and clearly this woman is 6 foot and a model.” Luckily, she grabbed the attention of producer and director Barry Sonnenfeld as soon as she walked in the room. “I said ‘hello’ and he said ‘You have a weird voice,’” she explains laughing. “I was like ‘Oh, I think that’s good for Barry because Barry is so crazy.”

Fast forward to the present and the Daily Show alum is doing what she does best, keeping audiences laughing as part of Notes Wednesday night ensemble. Her character Cooper, a divorce lawyer, is forced to deal with two expectant couples including stars Lauren (Jennifer Westfeldt) and Andrew (Peter Cambor) and their friends Julie (Melanie Deanne Moore) and Eric (Sunkrish Bala), while friend Danny (Michael Weaver) provides the bachelor perspective.

Hollywood.com caught up with Harris to find out more about what to expect from a show about expecting.

Hollywood.com: Cooper’s personality is so much about her quick-witted delivery. What prepared you most for that part of the role?
Rachael Harris: I think that my favorite comedians have always been like Betty White and Teri Garr and Madeline Kahn and those women tended to be understated in their deliveries in my opinion. I was on The Best Week Ever and we always gave sort of witty comments, I would hope. It certainly didn’t come from my parents!

HW: Do you relate to one of the female characters more than the others, Lauren the hesitant and confused mother-to-be, ever-optimistic and also pregnant Julie or career driven Cooper?
RH: Wow, I would have to say I can relate to all three of them and that’s not just to say that. My husband and I are in the middle of trying to decide when we want to have a child and we’ve gone back in forth like “Do we?” So in that regard I can really relate to Jen Westfeldt’s character. Then I am a bit of an optimist so I really relate to Julie, but then as far as Cooper goes I like to think that I’m very direct and I do get annoyed easily.

HW: The audience can relate to many of the scenes in the show. Have you ever figured out a friend was pregnant over a coffee order?
RH: Yes, I did that with my very best friend … we went out to lunch and we were eating and she had a decaf ice tea or something and it was just a little too off and I was like, I had known she had been trying to get pregnant, but it had been over a year, so I said “Are you pregnant?” She’s like “Yes, but you cannot tell anyone. I just found out a couple of days ago.” So I can completely relate to it.

HW: You used to do improv with the Groundlings comedy troupe, do you get the chance to ad lib at all these days?
RH: Actually my favorite thing is to have a scripted show that allows you to improvise within that script. That way you can say “Hey, can I do this line this way?” That’s what was great about Stacy [Traub] and Barry is they would say “Yes, say it however it is going to be funniest. Funny trumps writing” … It is really the best because then you can really make it your own in the moment.

HW: Comedy has been your focus on stage, television and in the movies, would you consider a dramatic role?
RH: Absolutely. I started out thinking I was going to go to Broadway and do nothing but ‘night Mother … my professor said “I think you should investigate comedy more. I think you are funny,” so when I went to L.A. and did the Groundlings I was like “I get it” because I loved it so much … but I am completely comfortable doing drama and would love to do it.

HW: You’ve worked with some of the funniest guys in showbiz, including Steve Carell, Will Ferrell and Jon Stewart. What’s it like working with comedic geniuses?
RH: You know what’s great about all three of them is that they are all very serious about comedy [laughs]. I like it because they are very professional and very particular. These are very naturally gifted men in my opinion, but they are also perfectionists and they will do it until they get it right. They are always open to trying new things. The thing about Steve is he really is one of the nicest people I’ve ever worked with and whether you are a crew member or you are Morgan Freeman he treats everyone the same and he is genuinely interested … I didn’t work with Jon as much as I worked with Will and Steve just because of the nature of the show. I think they all genuinely care about the people that work with them and … just that they can come up with anything funny on the spot. Will can make anything funny, like “I’m going to open up the fridge and get a bottle of water out.”

HW: You recently worked on a comedy with Steve called Evan Almighty. What character did you play?
RH: I played Markie Parkington one of six reporters that were reporting while Evan was building the ark. I was the one who has the entertainment bent … I was trying to be like an Entertainment Tonight reporter, but there was no entertainment value. There were no celebrities, so I would say things like “What does Hollywood think about Evan building this ark? We’ll check in with Danny Bonaduce and Hank Azaria right after this.” She was over the top and I wore an orange cone colored suit that was pretty fierce. That was an amazing shoot because we were in Virginia for over eight weeks and saw the most exotic animals while working on that set.

HW: You worked on the Daily Show with Steve, what was it like to team up again?
RH: Steve is so good. I’m gushing, he’s really one of my favorite comedic actors and I shouldn’t even say comedic, he is just one of my favorite actors … we did a segment [on The Daily Show] called “We Love Showbiz” and he was brilliantly funny and so nice. We did a pilot together later. We did Andy Richter’s pilot the Lunchbox Chronicles together and he just killed me he was so funny. He is so nice and I just gush about him, so really this should be the Rachael Harris gushes about Steve Carell interview!

Bollywood Actresses Drive Indian Slimming Fashion

Bollywood Actresses Drive Indian Slimming FashionMUMBAI INDIA: Bollywood actresses are slimming down, as an increasing vogue for showing bare flesh on screen and Western ideas about body size and beauty take hold in India’s big cities.

Whereas former leading ladies like Mumtaz and Zeenat Aman once found their curvaceous figures no barrier to success, their modern-day counterparts are as famous for their diet and fitness regimes as their acting and dancing skills.

“There’s been a lot of changes in the last decade, whether it’s in modelling or in Bollywood,” said nutritionist and fitness consultant Venu Hirani, who works in India’s entertainment capital, Mumbai.

“Today, the basic requirement for someone wanting to go into either is that they need to be a (US) size zero,” she said.

Actress Kareena Kapoor has been the focus of much media attention since appearing in a bikini in the 2008 film “Tashan” (Style) — a significant development in an industry known for its chaste treatment of romantic love.

The 29-year-old star slimmed down dramatically for the role and reportedly collapsed on set.

She has since had to deny suggestions that her current weight is unhealthy, instead attributing her smaller size to eating correctly, regular exercise and yoga.

“My size zero is such a hot topic of discussion… that when Saif (Ali Khan, her actor boyfriend) and I eat out at a restaurant, people don’t stare so much at us as… what is on my plate,” she told the Bombay Times newspaper.

“Some even ask the maitre d’: ‘What is she ordering for dinner?’ I love the curiosity element,” she said.

Other Bollywood actresses, like Bipashu Basu and Shilpa Shetty, have launched fitness or yoga videos.

Some, such as Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, often talk about the importance of sports in their health regime.

But while Kapoor and others can turn to their own personal dietician and fitness trainers for expert guidance, some health professionals fear the phenomenon could contribute to dangerous, unregulated weight loss among fans.

Hirani said she has seen an influx of young women coming to her for advice on how to lose weight — even though they may not need it.

“Maybe about a decade ago you would have had people come to me for post-pregnancy weight loss, or people with health conditions,” she said.

“Now I have more and more of the younger generation who don’t really need to lose weight but tell me they need to knock off five kilogrammes.”

Hirani and Roshni Pithawala, another Mumbai-based consultant dietician and counsellor, said Bollywood and the growth of Internet access, cable television and advertising are changing the way Indians look at their bodies.

Few formal studies on the prevalence of eating disorders in India exist but one report suggested that conditions like anorexia and bulimia were increasing, although they were yet to reach levels found in Western countries.

“Socio-economic cultural changes and Westernization could result in the culture-change syndrome of eating disorders in India today,” the study, published in the journal Indian Pediatrics in May 2007, said.

The situation was following a similar pattern to the West, with higher socio-economic groups affected, it added.

Pithawala said peer pressure among teenage girls to look good, family and school pressures played a part, as did a lack of education in Indian schools about nutrition and healthy eating.

When they look at their heroes and heroines, “they create an ideal image, which might not be the reality for them. That person may have spent millions of rupees to get that figure. It’s an unrealistic goal,” she said.

Kapoor herself is also alert to the problem, saying what works for her might not work for everyone.

“What is good enough for me can never be good for you and vice versa,” she told the Bombay Times. “All I can say is never starve. Eat right and you will go places both with your shape and your soul.”

Whale kills Trainer as Horrified Spectators Watch

MIAMI: Whale kills trainer as horrified spectators watch, A killer whale killed a 40-year-old female trainer in an apparent attack witnessed by horrified onlookers at Florida’s SeaWorld entertainment park.
b053e46b0fwatch Whale kills Trainer as Horrified Spectators Watch
Authorities at first said the woman died after apparently falling into the whale’s tank, but an eyewitness claimed the animal leapt out of the water to grab her in its mouth.

The Orlando Sentinel newspaper reported that SeaWorld executive Chuck Tompkins later confirmed witness reports that Tilikum dragged the trainer into the water.

“We’re in the process of investigating all of the people and the animals,” Tompkins said.

“One of our most experienced animal trainers drowned in an incident with one of our killer whales this afternoon,” said Dan Brown, general manager at the Orlando, Florida entertainment park.

“This is an extraordinarily difficult time for the SeaWorld parks,” he said said at a televised press conference.

The massive animal had reportedly been involved in two previous incidents in which a trainer and a man who apparently jumped into his tank were killed.

Jim Solomons of the Orange County Sheriff’s office said the trainer killed Wednesday — identified by SeaWorld as Dawn Brancheau — died after slipping into the tank.

“She apparently slipped or fell… and was fatally injured by one of the whales,” he said. “This appears to be an accidental death, it’s a tragic death.”

The whale, named Tilikum or “friend” in the Native American language Chinook Jargon, is among the killer whales, dolphins and seals whose shows have made SeaWorld so popular.

But he has been involved in previous human deaths, including in 1991 when a part-time trainer at the Sealand of the Pacific facility in Canada was killed in his tank, according to the Humane Society of the United States.

In 1999, after being shipped from Canada to Orlando, he was blamed for the death of a man who had apparently stayed in the park after closing.

The Humane Society said the man jumped into Tilikum’s tank and was found dead the next morning, his naked body covered in scratches that suggested he had been dragged around the bottom and sides of the tank.

An eyewitness told CNN that Tilikum attacked the trainer as she showed him off to park visitors following the Dine with Shamu show.

“He just took off like a bat out of you know what, took off really fast and came back around to the glass, jumped up, and grabbed the trainer by the waist and started shaking her violently,” witness Victoria Biniak said.

“The sirens were going off. People were running out. I’ve never seen so many SeaWorld employees come out of the woodwork.”

Another eyewitness told CNN that the whales in the tank had begun ignoring the trainers.

“We could tell this whale was not in a good mood at all. We literally could tell it was not cooperating,” said the unnamed witness.

Though killer whales, also known as orcas, are a common attraction at entertainment parks, they are known for aggressive “play” and behavior in the wild, including batting seals or dolphins back and forth.

They are huge creatures — Tilikum weighs in at least 11,000 pounds — and “are among the most curious of all whales, with a great tendency to ‘play’ and to manipulate objects,” according to SeaWorld’s website.

Tilikum was captured in November 1983 off the coast of Iceland and is one of several killer whales on display at the Orlando park, which was partially closed down after the trainer’s death.

SeaWorld’s website said its shows involving killer whales in Orlando and in San Diego, California, have been suspended.

Animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals released a statement saying the death was a “tragedy that didn’t have to happen.”

Hannah Storm

Hannah Storm, ‘Pardon the Interruption’ host Tony Kornheiser passed fccf4aba24storm1 Hannah Stormsome indecent remarks about Hannah Storm and the ESPN management suspended him. Several media reports confirmed the news that following Tony Kornheiser’s last week’s outburst about wardrobe of American sports journalist, he has been deprived of his job for indefinite period.

61-year-old American sportswriter and The Washington Post’s columnist Anthony Irwin “Tony” Kornheiser made some coarse comments about Hannah Storm last week and stated things such as “What a horrifying, horrifying outfit she’s wearing.” The shirt she’s wearing is very, very tight.” He further commented “All she’s put on is a sausage covering wrapped around to cover her upper body.”

47-year-old Hannah Storm herself is a well-known television personality and features on ESPN’s program Sports Center as co-anchor with Josh Elliot. She also used to be among ‘The Early Show’ hosts for some five years. The disgusting remarks made by Tony were taken serious notice of by the ESPN authorities and according to a spokesman for the Network; Tony will be suspended.

Though the spokesman used the term ‘for some time’ but it is being speculated that the same might be translated into an indefinite period that might comprise of few days or even few weeks. Reportedly, Tony Kornheiser immediately realized his mistake and did submit his apologies to Hannah Storm through his radio show the very next day.

The popular show ‘Pardon the Interruption’ begun with entirely different remarks by Tony on the following day and he stated “Unambiguously and with very clear mind, I apologize.” “I am, indeed an ironic and sardonic, dissident guy and have no right to criticize the others over their looks or outfits and insult them” and things like.

Meanwhile, many think whatever Tony said was not that harsh to ‘punish’ him in terms of his job!
