Former T20 captain Shahid Afridi has been deprived of the captaincy of Karachi Dolphins Team for domestic T20 tournament.
The tournament would begin from Saturday, while both the teams from Karachi have been announced in this regard. Muhammad Sami took over Karachi Dolphins while Spinner Danesh Kaneria would captain the Karachi Zebras. Last year, Afridi was given captaincy, however this time he is not considered for the slot. Khalid Latif, Shah Zeb Hassan, Fawad Alam, Sarfraz Ahmed and Sohail Khan also made to the teams.
PERTH: Pakistan openers Salman Butt and Khalid Latif lost wickets without adding a runs in the overs of Ryan Harris and Mitchell Johnson as Shahid Afridi won the toss and opted to bat first in the final one dayer of the five matches series against Australia here at Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) ground on Sunday.

Mohammad Aamer was ruled out with a groin injury and was replaced by Mohammad Asif, who missed the second game in Sydney with a hand problem. The visitors also left out Shoaib Malik, who made way for the batsman Fawad Alam to play his first game since the three-day warm-up match at the start of the tour.
Pakistan must win to keep the series alive with a double-header still to be played in Perth.
Australia will be without Peter Siddle, who reported back soreness following Sunday’s win at the SCG and has been rested. That has allowed Ryan Harris to come in for his second appearance in Australian colours.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recalled players Fawad Alam and Abdul Rauf from Australia to reduce the size of the touring squad, officials said in a statement on Thursday.
Chief selector Iqbal Qasim told newsmen that a request by the team management to send senior batsman Younus Khan to Australia before the second test in Sydney starting on Sunday had been put on hold.
“The team management had asked us to rush Younus to reinforce the team but after discussing the matter with the board chairman we have decided that a final decision would be taken after the second test,” Qasim said. Pakistan lost the first test.
Pakistan after getting reduced to a disastrous 85 for 5 fought back superbly through Umar Akmal and his older brother Kamran Akmal to end Day 3 at 307 for 8. Umar Akmal went onto score a century on Test Debut! The Akmal Brothers put on a terrific counter punch with a partnership of 176 for the sixth wicket. New Zealand still hold the game in their control as Pakistan have a deficit of 122 runs and there are a couple of days left in this Dunedin match. Pakistan would be looking for some weather intervention to keep New Zealand away from a victory.
New Zealand resumed Day 3 at 404 for 8 and could add a further 25 runs before getting bowled out. Mohammad Asif finished with 4 for 108 in 34 overs. Pakistan in their first innings got off to a bad start when Khurram Manzoor dragged his forcing shot onto his stumps off Chris Martin in the 4th over. By lunch, Pakistan lost their other opener Imran Farhat who challenged an lbw decision through a review but in vain. Martin was again the successful bowler to take this wicket and Pak went to lunch at 50 for 2.
Pakistan had more trouble in store in the afternoon session as they lost three more wickets to put New Zealand in a winning position. Shane Bond bowled at his very best to pick the wickets of Skipper Mohammad Yousuf (17), Fawad Alam (29) and Shoaib Malik (2) in the space of around 4 overs. Yousuf played an uppish drive back to Bond who came up with a forward diving catch. Fawad Alam and Shoaib Malik both fell to rising deliveries.
At 85 for 5, the Kiwis were right on top of Pakistan but the Akmal brothers had different ideas. Umar Akmal initiated the counter attack by slogging Vettori over mid wicket for a six and his older brother Kamran joined the fight in same vein. For the next 40 overs or so, the Kiwi attack was put to sword before Kamran Akmal threw his wicket by giving the charge to Vettori but only to edge his big shot to slip. The wicket keeper batsman scored a superb 82 from 136 balls with 11 fours and a six.
Towards the fag end of the day’s play, Umar Akmal got dismissed getting caught at deep point after a brilliant 129 (from 160 balls with 21 fours and 2 sixes). Vettori rounded off the day with the wicket of Umar Gul.

Hosts India are under tremendous pressure to force a draw on the final day of the Ahmedabad Test. They have already lost the key wickets of Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid in the 45 overs of batting they had on the fourth day.
However, things do look bright for India with a second innings total of 190 for 2 at stumps today. Gautam Gambhir is unbeaten at stumps with a superb 70 and along with him is night watchman Amit Mishra who has shown good technique to kill some time on his own.
Sri Lanka resuming the fourth day’s play at 591 for 5 went to lunch without losing a single wicket again. Mahela Jayawardene went past 250 and Prasanna Jayawardene notched up his second test hundred. After lunch, Sri Lanka batted for less than hour to take the score to 760 for 7 before declaring their innings.
The lead the Sri Lankans settled for was a monstrous one of 334 runs. Mahela Jayawardene’s marathon knock came to an end when he danced down to hoick Amit Mishra but only to be bowled for a score of 275 (from 435 balls with 27 fours and a six). Mahela put on a new world record partnership of 351 with Prasanna Jayawardene who finished unbeaten on 154 (from 314 balls with 11 fours) at the time of the declaration.
India seemed to have got a bright start as they went to Tea at 77 for no loss but immediately at the start of the final session, Virender Sehwag went for an over confident slog sweep off Rangana Herath but only to get caught at mid on. Sehwag by then had stroked his way to 51 (from 67 balls with 7 fours).
The homeside recovered after losing Sehwag with Gambhir and Dravid batting with plenty of assurance and at the same time keeping the scoreboard busy. During the dying moments of the fourth day, Umpire Daryl Harper gave a well set Rahul Dravid lbw to put India back in trouble. Dravid (38 from 66 balls with 6 fours) shuffled across and missed an inswinger from left armer Chanaka Welegedara but the ball was angling down the legside from round the sticks.
Gambhir and Mishra batted through the remaining few overs to ensure that India went to stumps losing only those two wickets. The pitch still remains good for batting but Sri Lanka have two quality spinners in Muralitharan and Herath to sustain high amount of pressures on the batsmen during the final day. India first needs to wipe out the deficit which has come down to 144 runs.

Algeria Egypt lead by three points entering the final qualifying round but lost 2-0 in Cairo to leave the two teams tied in all the five criteria used by FIFA. Les Fennecs will be hoping to avoid the fate that happened twenty years ago, when Spain beat a place in the 1990 World Cup.
Egypt needed to win by three goals to qualify automatically, by two goals to force a playoff. They took the lead in Cairo through an early effort, Amr Zaki, but despite the accumulation of pressure, could not get the second goal, and with the clock around, it looked like desert foxes progress at their expense. But Emad Moteab sent fans into delirium by conjuring a goal out of nothing in the fifth minute of overtime.
Egypt and Algeria have already played each other twice this year, with both teams picking up one win each. Who Will Win Round No. 3 on Wednesday? Sign up today to watch live coverage of the online playoff game between Algeria and Egypt.

Mohammad Asif, Yasir Arafat and leggie Danish Kaneria picked up a couple of wickets each.

Imran Farhat on 10 and Fawad Alam on 0 are at the crease for the tourists. This match could be a good eposure for young Umar Akmal who is lining up for a Test Match Debut at Dunedin.
