Pakistan News: Admitting flaws in the incumbent government, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said, “ The country do not afford holdong of mid-term polls, adding that, all the outstanding issued would be resolved only if the democratic set up would be continued”.
Addressing a gathering at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, the PM said, “Beauty of democracy lies in difference of opinion, and the future of country depended on the continuation of democracy”. He maintained that all the political parties were united in the country and added that problems did not call for reversal of everything. He said politics was not a film industry where faces change, and added that same faces would come in forefront if the mid-term polls were held. The PM said that it is President’s constitutional right to address the parliament and added that it would be a great injustice to compare a dictator with a democratic government. He noted that reconciliatory politics was Benazir Bhutto’s vision.
He said that good governance meant that the judiciary should dispense justice to the masses and did not mean that the PM should deliver. He asserted that the provincial governments were as much accountable in this regard. The PM noted that terrorism topped all the big challenges facing the country. He hailed the army, saying that the armed forces are extending sacrifices to save future of the country.
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Monday said that parliament is elected by 17 crore people of Pakistan therefore dishonoring it was not fair.
“All the people sitting here are elected; they have not entered from the backdoors. It was the power of masses and the parliament through with the sacked judiciary was restored,” Gilani said while addressing National Assembly session.
He said his government would have no objection if parliament empowers Chief Justice of Pakistan to appointment judges.
“We will not object if the National Assembly itself transfers powers of appointment of judges to the Chief Justice of Pakistan.”
KARACHI, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan has no expansionist intentions in the region. Addressing a ceremony regarding the inclusion of PNS Shamsher in Pak Navy, the Premier said that Pakistan was doing more than its capabilities to eliminate the anti-peace powers in the world. The PM observed that self-sufficiency in arms production was the need of hour and vowed to provide the army with modern equipment despite the economic crunch. He noted that Pakistan, China ties were very deep and based on mutual trust, and added that the inclusion of PNS Shamsher would further boost the ties. Speaking on the occasion, Admiral Nauman said that F22P Frigate has been prepared in view of the Pak Navy’s requirements, while the third frigate was being prepared. Earlier, the PM was given Guard of Honour by the Navy personnel.
Islamabad: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that there was no confrontation among institutions.
Talking to media in Islamabad, “We have come to power for 5 years, so tolerate us.” He said that opposition parties use different tactics and give statements to remain alive in politics.
He said that judges’ appointments would be held with consultation and consensus. He vowed to provide free education till primary classes and the new education policy would be launched after consultation with provincial governments.
The PM said that this was necessary to give training to teachers and education standard was not satisfactory.

PM was addressing the National Assembly where he also said that I am representative of the Federation and the every part of Pakistan is equally important to me. He said that the case of the former Attorney General is pending for review in the Supreme Court. He said that he would fight till the very end to increase the powers of the Parliament. We are implementing the decision of the Supreme Court. I have even promoted the judge who sentenced me.
PM also said that office and power is temporary, he mainly wants to maintain relations with democratic forces. President Zardari has been given immunity by the Parliament.
Lahore, Pakistan News :- Prime Minister (PM) Yousaf Raza Gilani said that he has directed the Ministry of Law to implement the verdict of Supreme Court in true spirit, PM was talking to media in Lahore where he also said that system is safe and President is exempted from NRO. According to Cabinet division, since PM took office, 66% of his orders have not been implemented yet.
According to document submitted by the Cabinet division to the Parliament, the PM office has issued 555 orders and only 194 were implemented and the remaining 361 orders are still pending.
Lahore, Pakistan News: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani agreed to defuse the ongoing strife between PPP and PML-N on Monday.
The two leaders, during a meeting held at the Governor House in Lahore, discussed the steps to do away with the prevailing political disputes.
The President and PM also deliberated upon different issues facing the country. Zardai maintained that the PPP workers were disappointed for not being able to get jobs in Punjab, and urged the PPP provincial ministers to address the grievances of party members.
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has ruled out contention between army and government, saying that all the institutions are working in their limits.
Talking to media after visiting the houses of Constable Ilyas and Constable Aftab, who died in Melody Market suicide blast in Islamabad, Gilani rejected the notion regarding deadlock in scrapping of 17th amendment, adding that he was 200 percent sincere to do away with this constitutional distortion. The premier said that no clash would arise if army, judiciary and parliament work in limits. He noted that public backed the government, adding that people have elected them for five years and they would be accountable only before public in this regard. Replying to a question, the PM said that the US base has not been finished rather shifted from Sihala.
He said compensation of Rs2million will be given to the families of martyred officials of Islamabad police and Frontier Constabulary, besides giving jobs to their children. Moreover, 2,000 flats would also be constructed for police in federal capital and 0.3million rupees would be given for their children’s study, he added.
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said that Pakistan People Party had improved its relations with army for the first time, adding that Pakistan army had always supported democracy in the country.
In an interview today, Gilani said that the army had played its role in supporting democracy “and that is why Asif Ali Zardari became President.”
He said had the Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani wanted he would have supported General Musharraf, “but he did not do so and backed the democracy,” Gilani said.
“Together we will have to dispel this wrong impression against the army chief,” he said.
To a query about Kerry-Logar bill, the premier said “army is with the government.”
He ruled out the impression that army has any connection with restoration of Chief Justice of Pakistan. “Army has no connection with CJ’s restoration.
He said “The ISI is working under my supervision. I am satisfied with its performance,” he added.
To another question, the prime minister said he was not in favour of imposing governor rule in Punjab.
