Lauren Ashley

Lauren Ashley, “The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman. In Leviticus it says, ‘If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a 1e7af9f3abashley Lauren Ashleywoman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.’ The Bible is pretty black and white.

“I feel like God himself created mankind and he loves everyone, and he has the best for everyone. If he says that having sex with someone of your same gender is going to bring death upon you, that’s a pretty stern warning, and he knows more than we do about life.”

Ashley, 23, will be representing Beverly Hills in the Miss California pageant in November. Her statements mirror former Miss California Carrie Prejean’s answer to a question about same-sex marriage in last year’s Miss USA pageant. At the time, Prejean said her answer opposing same sex marriage cost her the title.

But with the Miss California Pageant still months away, and Ashley already echoing the views that got Prejean in trouble last year, is she concerned that she may ruin her chances of taking home the tiara?

“That isn’t really the issue. I have a lot of friends that are gay, and … I have a lot of friends who have different views, and we share our views together,” she said. “There’s no hate between me and anyone.”

And according to the Miss California’s state director, Keith Lewis, a contestant’s personal opinion should have no bearing on the result.

“The Miss California USA system has always had a place for an individual’s thoughts and opinions when it comes to all sides of political issues,” Lewis told Pop Tarts. “It is an organization which empowers women, and everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.”

And while Ashley has yet to meet Carrie Prejean, she is certainly a big fan.

“She is definitely a beautiful person and I love that she stood up for what she believes in. I think that’s gorgeous,” Ashley said. “Perez Hilton definitely overreacted a little bit. He took it personally, and I’m sure that she loves him just as much as she loves everyone else.”

Ashley owns her own personal training company in Beverly Hills. And even though she parties with Paris Hilton, she tries to steer clear of doing anything too naughty. She said she plans to remain a virgin until her wedding night.

“I don’t drink alcohol and I don’t smoke weed or cigarettes. My definition of partying is a little different,” she said. “I feel like my body is the Temple of God and it’s my temple so it’s really good to treat it well. I also feel like sex was made for marriage. You really show your future husband or wife respect and you build a lot of trust before you get married. You don’t have sex with other people, so that should definitely build trust, because you waited.”

Pop Tarts has also exclusively learned that Lewis, who was pitted against Prejean in last year’s gay marriage brouhaha, is writing a tell-all book under the working title “The Man Behind the Tiara.”

“It is a gay man’s journey through overcoming his own homophobia,” Lewis said. “I was from a Southern Baptist upbringing, I was from Carrie’s camp. This whole thing made me realize that I had a deep-seated guilt about who I was. Strangely enough, Carrie Prejean made me comfortable with being gay.”

Brian Westbrook Howard stern

Brian Westbrook was released Tuesday, ending an eight-year career with the Eagles during which he racked up nearly 6,000 rushing yards and more than 3,800 receiving yards. Naturally, ESPN sought an interview with the former All-Pro running back, and they appeared to secure one.

That is until “Brian Westbrook” actually spoke on SportsCenter. The caller’s real identity is Captain Janks from the Howard Stern Show, and it took less than 30 seconds of speaking before the impostor said that he has “nothing but respect for head coach Andy Reid and I look forward to a future of worshipping the prostate of Howard Stern.”

SportsCenter anchor Scott Van Pelt reacted humorously to viewers, saying, “Oh boy, we got that, huh. So that worked out well.” A pause ensued before he passed the baton to co-anchor Steve Levy with a casual “hi.” Scroll down for video of the exchange.

The Way i Am Ingrid Michaelson

The Way i Am Ingrid Michaelson, “The Way I Am” is a pop song written by Ingrid Michaelson on her album Girls and Boys.32d4c44fd2aelson The Way i Am Ingrid Michaelson

On September 21, 2007, Michaelson made her network television debut performing the song on Last Call with Carson Daly.

The Way I Am By Ingrid Michaelson Lyrics :

If you were falling, then I would catch you
You need a light, I’d find a match

Cuz I love the way you say good morning
And you take me the way I am

If you are chilly, here take my sweater
Your head is aching; I’ll make it better

Cuz I love the way you call me baby
And you take me the way I am

I’d buy you Rogaine when you start losing all your hair
Sew on patches to all you tear

Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise
And you take me the way I am
You take me the way I am
You take me the way I am

Cheryl Miller Married

Cheryl Miller Married, Basketball player, University of Southern California (USC), 1982-86; U.S. Olympic Team member, 1984; USC, assistant coach, women’s basketball, 1987-91; ABC television network, basketball announcer, 1987–; USC, head coach, women’s basketball, 1993–.
ca73a0d2ebarried Cheryl Miller Married

During her playing career, Cheryl Miller was arguably the best woman basketball player of all time. A four-time All-American, Miller led her University of Southern California (USC) team to successive National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championships in 1983 and 1984. She went on to anchor the U.S. Olympic team that captured the 1984 gold medal in women’s basketball. A charismatic and outspoken figure, Miller has parlayed her triumphs on the court into a successful broadcasting career as a television basketball announcer for ABC-TV. Miller launched her coaching career in 1993, when she accepted the women’s head coaching position at her alma mater. In 1995 Miller was voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in recognition of her contribution to the game.

Miller was born and raised in Riverside, California, the third of five children. Her father, Saul Miller, was a stern taskmaster who instilled a competitive spirit in all of his children. A jazz saxophonist turned military man turned computer professional, the senior Miller demanded top performances from his kids in sports and in the classroom. Saul, Jr., the eldest son of Saul and his wife, Carrie, followed in his father’s footsteps and became a sax player in the Air Force jazz band. Second son Darrell played baseball for five years with the California Angels. Cheryl and younger brother Reggie became basketball stars. Tammy, the youngest, was a successful college volleyball player.

For Cheryl, pickup games on the family’s backyard court provided much tougher competition than she generally faced from her peers. Playing against her brothers, all excellent athletes, Miller developed basketball skills at an early age that exceeded by far those of other girls in the neighborhood. By the time she was in high school, Miller had grown to six feet two inches, towering over most of her opponents in both stature and talent. In her four years at Riverside Polytechnic High, she scored a total of 3,405 points for an overall average of nearly 37 points a game. In one 1982 game, Miller scored 105 points, a California high school record. She also performed what are thought to be the first two dunks by a woman in organized competition. The Riverside team rode Miller’s coattails to four consecutive state titles during her high school career, compiling a four-year record of 132 wins and only four losses.

Of all her siblings, Miller has always been closest to brother Reggie, now starring for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). In a 1982 interview in People magazine, she described a hustle that she and Reggie pulled regularly on neighborhood courts. While Cheryl hid nearby, Reggie would challenge a pair of boys to play against him and his sister. Not knowing Cheryl, they would usually accept the offer eagerly. She would then come out from hiding and proceed to dominate the game. Reggie has always maintained that it was his childhood one-on-one games against his sister that enabled him to develop his trademark rainbow jump shot; he claims that trying to shoot over Cheryl while growing up has made shooting over NBA seven-footers seem like child’s play.

Miller’s high school feats made her the most heavily recruited female athlete of all time. Out of over 250 scholarship offers, she chose to attend USC, which already had a strong team. Miller was nearly as dominant at USC as she was at Riverside. Joining a squad that included such talented players as the McGee twins, Pam and Paula, Miller led USC to back-to-back NCAA titles, picking up Final Four Most Valuable Player honors after both tournaments. She also developed a reputation as a show-off and trash-talker. By the time her college career had ended, Miller had broken the NCAA women’s career records for scoring, free throws, and steals, and was named All-American each of her four years at USC. Miller’s charm helped USC break a variety of attendance records as well, as women’s basketball attained a level of popularity it had never before approached.

While she was setting a new standard for women’s collegiate basketball in the United States, Miller was also tearing up courts in international competition. In 1983 she played for teams representing the U.S. in the Pan Am Games and the World University Games, where her 37 points in the finals helped the U.S. team bring home the championship.

Miller’s popularity reached its peak in 1984 when she was the standout player for the U.S. Olympic team, considered by many to be the finest collection of women basketball players ever assembled. Her gold medal performance at the Olympics was so compelling that for a short time afterward, Miller may have been the most famous basketball player in the world–of either gender. In 1985 Sports Illustrated named her National Player of the Year. Miller became an international celebrity, gracing magazine covers in Asia, meeting heads of state, and making television appearances varying from interviews with newswoman Barbara Walters to guest spots on the television drama Cagney and Lacey.

During her college career, Miller averaged 23 points and 11.9 rebounds a game. When she was done, she held almost every important USC school record. While statistics of that magnitude would have meant a multi-million-dollar NBA contract for a man, for a woman they meant virtually nothing. The sport remained as much a dead end for the person who had brought women’s basketball into the spotlight as it was for the most mediocre players.

After graduating from USC with a degree in communications, Miller was offered jobs playing basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters, an exhibition team, and in a European women’s league. Neither of those opportunities appealed to her, however, since neither represented a serious competitive challenge. Miller missed the chance to repeat her Olympic glory in 1988 when an injury forced her off the U.S. squad. Although she remained a darling of the sports media, it eventually became clear that her competitive playing days were over. The articulate and outspoken Miller then turned to broadcasting, landing a job with ABC-TV as a college basketball commentator. She also served as a part-time assistant coach at USC for a few years in the late 1980s.

In 1993 Miller was hired by USC as head coach of women’s basketball. In accepting the job, she placed herself squarely in the middle of a boiling controversy. Miller’s predecessor, Marianne Stanley, had been extremely successful. When her contract expired, Stanley had insisted that she be paid a salary comparable to that of men’s coach George Raveling. The university balked at her demand, and her contract was not renewed. Stanley then filed an $8 million sex discrimination suit against USC and its athletic director. Miller became something of a pariah among other women’s basketball coaches when she replaced Stanley. Several of them publicly criticized her for accepting the job, and many neglected the common courtesy of sending scouting videotapes of their teams to USC. Many of these hostile coaches remembered Miller’s showboating style as a player, which may have contributed to their animosity.

In spite of the intense pressure, Miller’s first year in the head coaching ranks was fairly successful. She led the Women of Troy to the Mideast regional finals in the NCAA tournament in the spring of 1994. In February of 1995 Miller was one of seven individuals voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. On hearing of her election, Miller was uncharacteristically modest. “I wasn’t the greatest athlete and I couldn’t jump out of the gym and I wasn’t an extraordinary ballhandler,” Miller was quoted as saying in the Los Angeles Times. “I was just someone who loved the game so very much and had a passion for sport and life.” The second half of that statement, at least, rings true.

The Bachelor Episode 4

12a7b0fd19sode 4 The Bachelor Episode 4Latest news updates The Bachelor 2010 Episode 4, The Bachelor Season 14 Episode 4: It has been another great week for The Bachelor and I want to thank all of you for already making this season such a huge success. This has been one of the most emotional seasons we have ever had. I understand this has also been an emotional season for you as well. Some of that emotion has turned into anger and some of that anger has been aimed towards me in the comments. I’m perfectly okay with this and appreciate the honesty. I do want to mention one particular comment that really impressed my wife and I. V wrote a comment early last Tuesday afternoon and it was awesome. I highly recommend you all go back and read it, as it was as nasty as it was eloquent. I must admit I had to look up a lot of the words she used but V, you rocked the rant.

This week I really enjoyed surprising the girls with the RV’s and the road trip. While they were extremely excited at first I don’t think they really understood this was a true road trip and they would be roughing it. Most of the girls wore high heels when they got on the RV’s. Once they realized how it was going to be most of them went and changed except for Ashleigh who kept the heels on! When they were getting on the RV’s Ali and Vienna went in separate directions. They wanted nothing to do with one another.

Miandad Lashes Out at PCB Over Salary Issue

27e9161f10issue Miandad Lashes Out at PCB Over Salary IssueLAHORE: Former Pakistan captain and Pakistan Cricket Board’s Director General Javed Miandad has denied PCB chief’s claims that he is being paid rupees one million in salary besides lashing out at the Center of Excellence project in Karachi which he terms as sheer waste of money.

Talking to a local English newspaper Saturday, Miandad strongly condemned the statement of the PCB chairman on Friday in which he had said that PCB was paying Rs 7.5 lacs to Miandad and if his other expenditures were to be included, he was costing the Board almost Rs 10,00,000.

“The chairman should not disclose even my original salary under any code of ethics. But to set the record straight I want to say I am getting a net salary of Rs 5,70,000, after tax deduction,” a fuming Miandad clarified.

“Prove me wrong if I have drawn Rs one million in any of the previous months with the PCB as DG,” Miandad, one of the greatest batsmen ever produced by Pakistan, said.

“I have been staying at my own residences in Lahore and Karachi and only traveled whenever the PCB asked me for any assignment,” he said.

“What we have given to this country makes us worthy of it all and we are priceless. And if I donot have proper assignment at hand, it is because of the chairman. Give me one example where I refused any assignment from the Board,” Miandad asked.

He said he had tabled various plans before the chairman for the betterment of the game in the country, but received no positive response on them.

“The only assignment given to him by the chairman was the holding back-to-back One-day matches against Sri Lanka in Karachi, last year. I organised those matches in best manners as the ICC officials appreciated that,” he said.

Miandad said he met the chairman this week and again asked him to give him new assignment.

Miandad, who seems to be heading for a showdown with the PCB chairman, said he was not appointed by the chairman but the Patron of the PCB, President Asif Ali Zardari. The president, he added, also appointed him as cricket ambassador to China.

“And if the PCB chairman is not giving me any respect, he is in fact not giving respect to the Patron,” he said.

Miandad said he had written a letter to the Patron, informing him about all the situation. He also criticised the PCB decision of building an academy in Karachi with a heavy cost of Rs 100million.

“The city has already with an academy, where more facilities can be provided with a cost of just Rs2 or 3million,” he asserted.

He said with some investment the buildings of the cricket academies in Karachi and Lahore could be turned into a hotel where the foreign teams could stay during their tours.

“As both the academies are located in front of the National Stadium, Karachi and Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, the big concern of the international teams about the security can be solved by staying them in these academies,” he said.

Meanwhile, a PCB spokesman, while commenting on the project of the academy at NCA said: “The Regional Cricket Academy (Center of Excellence)

Project in Karachi has been started after getting the approval of the Board of Governors (BoGs) and the board also has approved 100 Million rupees budget for the development of infrastructure, the statement clarifies. The reports in media are based on incomplete dissemination of information by an individual,” the statement says without quoting the name of Miandad.

The current PCB administration has already constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Wazir Ali Khoja and consisting of Abdul Raquib and Iqbal Qasim to oversee the project. It is also important to note that the Center is an academy with five star facilities on the line of National Cricket Academy in Lahore and not a hotel,” he concluded.

However, Miandad, who is also a member of the BoGs claimed that no such kind of project was tabled before the members.

“During Dr Nasim Ashaf’s tenure it was decided to build academy in all the Regions. But no budget was allocated. And during Ijaz’s tenure no such proposal came before the BoGs members,” he said.

He said instead of starting new projects, the PCB should complete the incomplete projects first.

“One of the main portions at the Gaddafi Stadium and the renovation work at the Pindi Stadium are all incomplete for the last many years,” he said.
