Manny Pacquiao Vs Joshua Clottey

Manny Pacquiao Vs Joshua Clottey, The Pacquiao-Clottey weigh-in is live on various outlets around the internet. Michael Buffer is on hand right outside Cowboys Stadium. He just announced the presence of Antonio Margarito to lukewarm applause. Buffer says it will be about 10 minutes until the fighters come out for the two featured bouts.68a4334da8lottey Manny Pacquiao Vs Joshua Clottey

It’s an interesting set-up for the people who are at the weigh-in in person. A bunch of people (one would assume the media) are up close to the stage. Then there’s an empty aisle with no people and a bunch of on-lookers in another tier a bit further back,

Rich Marotta and Darren Woodson are on hand for Top Rank. Yes, that Darren Woodson, the excellent former Cowboys safety. He’s apparently a big boxing fan, and he gives his opinion on the development of Pacquiao over the course of his career.

Buffer calls the Stadium the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” He introduces Jerry Jones for a quick bow.

Time for David Diaz and Humberto Soto to hit the scales. Diaz weighs in at 134 pounds. He looks like he’s in good shape.

Soto weighs in at 134 1/4 pounds. He looks a little less cut than Diaz but still in great fighting form. They bring the fighters to the front of the stage to pose with the vacant lightweight belt for which they will be competing. They also shake hands.

Buffer brings out Robert Duvall for some reason. I love weigh-in time fillers.

You didn’t think this was going to end without Jerry Jones getting a chance to talk, did you? He keeps it short, saying how proud he is to have boxing at Cowboys Stadium and thanking the fans.

Now it’s time for a video package hyping the fight.

Bob Arum grabs the microphone to say his piece. He also thanks the fans and makes a prediction, in passing anyway, of a million buys for the PPV broadcast. He says the worldwide audience will be 80 million people, and I guess there’s no way to really challenge that assertion.

Woodson hits the stage and gets the fans going for a second. Not surprisingly, there sounds like more Pacquiao fans are in attendance.

Down to business now. Buffer introduces the Grand Master first, followed by Pacquiao.

The challenger gets ready to step onto the scale first. Clottey weighs in at 147 pounds on the button. He is ripped as always.

Manny gets a lengthy introduction from Buffer and there is a throng of people around him as he makes his way out. Pacquiao weighs in at 145 3/4 pounds, and you never have to worry about him looking like he is ready to fight.

Arum steps in for the boxers to pose face to face. They certainly don’t seem to have any personal dislike for each other as both of them laugh and joke around.

Woodson gets to talk to Clottey for a second. He’s so soft spoken that it’s hard to hear him give his answers. The gist is that he feels ready for the fight. Props to Woodson for asking about the visa problems of Joshua’s trainer.

Weigh-ins for other fighters are proceeding in the background as Woodson tracks down Pac Man. Woodson asks about the various distractions, and though Manny says they aren’t an issue, he immediately segues into talking about the after-party. He thanks the fans on his way out.

Mumbai Indians Vs Rajasthan Royals

Mumbai Indians Vs Rajasthan Royals, The second match of the 2010 107fd8902aroyals Mumbai Indians Vs Rajasthan RoyalsIPL, and the first “day” game, starts in about half an hour at 3:00pm IST. Its the Mumbai Indians, who’ve won the toss, taking on the Rajasthan Royals. Do you notice what was missing there? Ok, its Sachin’s Mumbai vs Warne’s Rajasthan. There seems to be a strong contrast in these first few IPL games…. Yesterday featured the champions vs the eight best side in the tournament. Today features the richest franchise vs the one bought for the lowest amount. To the game and the hype is around Sachin vs Warne and Sachin vs Tait, which should tell you how much Mumbai are going to depend on Sachin, given Bravo and Pollard are busy with the Zimbabweans at the moment, but don’t discount Jayasuriya and Malinga having a strong impact on the game.

Rajasthan are almost a new side with all their additions and Shane Warne is hoping for big things from Jhunjhunwala. With Graeme Smith and Damien Martyn the side should finally have some stability at the top of the order and its the explosive Yousuf Pathan, who’s been in a six hitting frenzy in recent times, who could take this game away in an instant. Their bowling, which has always been their strength, now has Shaun Tait (is this a good or bad thing?) to join Munaf Patel and Warne as spearheads of the attack. It should be a closer game than you think, and I for one definitely don’t place the Royals as the underdogs.

Four foreign women were among the dead at the city’s German Bakery restaurant but their nationality was not known, said Dilip Band, a senior police official. “The explosive was in a bag kept in the bakery,”.

The explosion occurred late in the evening when the restaurant was packed with tourists and foreigners.

Debris was strewn all around the building located near a Jewish centre and Osho ashram, which is also frequented by foreigners. The impact knocked the bakery’s sign off and blew out windows.

Is Chavan SRK’s Bodyguard, Asks Thackeray

Is Chavan SRK's Bodyguard, Asks ThackerayMUMBAI: Continuing his tirade against Ashok Chavan, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Saturday asked whether the Congress leader was the chief

minister of Maharashtra or Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s bodyguard.

“Is Chavan the chief minister of Maharashtra or actor Shah Rukh Khan’s bodyguard? If it is the latter, then he should adorn the uniform of a security guard and stand outside Khan’s ‘Mannat’ bungalow here, saluting the passers-by,” Thackeray said in an editorial in Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamna’.

“What different work has Chavan done for the last seven-eight days,” Thackeray asked and flayed Chavan for “siding with Pak-lover Khan.”

The entire police force has been used as Khan’s “slave and domestic help”, Thackeray said, referring to the police action against Shiv Sainiks during the agitation against SRK-starrer ‘My Name Is Khan’.

“The only thing that remains is to erect a marble memorial for Kasab and his nine dead accomplices and ask policemen to salute it,” the Sena chief said.

Thackeray had on Friday accused Chavan of “succumbing to vote-bank politics and deploying tight security with AK-47s to ensure that Khan’s film release was smooth.”

“He arrested thousands of Shiv Sainiks and beat them up till they bled and put them in jail. In the end there was no place remaining in jail.

My Name is Khan

MUMBAI : My Name is Khan, Police have arrested more than 1,000 right-wing Hindu activists in the Indian city of Mumbai as part of increased security to stop violence over the release of new movie ‘My Name Is Khan’.67fed0d732s khan My Name is Khan

“Right now, 1,000 plus people have been arrested. Most of them (the arrests) are preventive,” senior officer Devan Bharti told AFP on Wednesday.

The arrests come amid a simmering row between top actor-producer Shah Rukh Khan, who stars in the film “My Name Is Khan”, and a local hardline Hindu nationalist party, the Shiv Sena.

Shiv Sena leaders have called on Khan to apologise after comments he made regretting the absence of any Pakistan players in the Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament starting next month.

The party champions the rights of local people from the western Indian state of Maharashtra, of which Mumbai is capital, and the local Marathi language.

It is also vocally anti-Muslim and sees itself as a defender of traditional Hindu moral values, often backing up its stance with violence.

Khan, who part-owns IPL outfit the Kolkata Knight Riders, has refused to apologise and defended questions about his patriotism.

Shiv Sena activists on Tuesday broke windows at one cinema in Mumbai during protests and have vowed to disrupt the film’s release on Friday.

Police on Tuesday announced that cinema-goers would be frisked and officers deployed to theatres showing the movie.
