Nick Skyler Wiki, Almost one year ago, Nick Schuyler, also known as Nick Skyler, was in a boat with four men. The four shoved off intent on spending relaxing Saturday deep-sea fishing. They were fishing about 75 miles off the coast of Clearwater, Fla.
All four men were athletes who were in their prime. They were good friends.
Two days after they were supposed to come home, three of the four men were dead leaving Nick Schuyler as the sole survivor.
Schuyler’s book “Not Without Hope” comes out today. His is book, Schuyler writes that to make it through the difficult year, he hung on past endurance.
This is the way I remember it. If I get some things wrong, it is due to the frailties of memory and the horror of what I experienced, not any intention to amend or deceive. This is what I recall after being in the water for forty-three hours, frigid and aching and scared, so hungry and thirsty that I felt I was eating my teeth. This is the best I can do after having three friends die, two of them in my arms.
Schuyler has had to deal with survivor’s guilt. However, Nick Skyler is the only one left who can tell the story. He wrote the book because he felt he owed it to the families and friends of those who died.
Schuyler wrote his book with the help of sports reporter Jere Longman. It is a compelling memoir. The accident is described in stunning detail.

BAGHDAD: A car bomb exploded Tuesday outside a police crime lab in northern Iraq, killing at least two people, Iraqi authorities said.
The bomb targeting the lab was the latest in a string of attacks against security forces in Mosul, an area where insurgents retain a foothold despite a sharp drop in violence across the rest of the country.
The car bomb was parked outside a side entrance to the lab in Mosul, 225 miles (360 kilometers) northwest of Baghdad, said Lt. Col. Salim Ibrahim, an area commander.
It wounded seven people, including five police officers, he said.
The explosion knocked over concrete blast walls and caused minor damage to the building, Ibrahim said.
In recent weeks in and around Mosul, security checkpoints have been attacked in drive-by shootings and the motorcade of the provincial governor was attacked.
Tuesday’s attack follows a suicide bombing last month that destroyed the Baghdad’s main crime lab and left at least 22 dead.
Gunmen also opened fire on two Christian college students waiting at a bus stop in Mosul, killing one and wounding the other, a police official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information.
Christians have been routinely been the targets of sectarian violence since the U.S.-led 2003 invasion.
The attacks come at sensitive time for Iraqi security forces, who are under fire to shore up security after lapses that allowed for attacks against a number of government sites.
The U.S. military has warned of a possible escalation in violence ahead of Iraq’s March 7 parliamentary elections.
Political tensions between the Shiite-led government and minority Sunnis have been on the rise after a vetting committee barred hundreds of candidates from running because of ties to Saddam Hussein outlawed Baath Party.
An explosion late Monday targeted the Baghdad political office of al-Ahrar, a party that includes followers of anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, police said.
Punched-out round holes in the office walls indicate that at least two rockets were fired at the building, observers said. Officials blamed a roadside bomb for the explosion, which killed one person and wounded three, including Majid Hussein Taha — a director of the Ministry of Agriculture and a candidate running on the party’s ticket.
Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) Monday announced the release of a new version of its smartphone operating system, Windows Phone 7 Series.
Device makers have already started developing phones using the new software, with the first ones set to become available in the second half of 2010, the U.S. software company said.
This version of its mobile operating system will have a newly designed homescreen and elements from Microsoft’s Zune HD music player and Xbox console. The Office software has been redesigned as well, and Microsoft’s search engine, Bing, is also integrated into the system.
Windows Phone 7 Series replaces Windows Mobile 6.5. Despite being used by handset makers such as HTC Corp. (2498.TW), Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (005930.SE), LG Corp. (003550.SE) and Sony Ericsson, the new operating system’s predecessor is only ranked fourth in the smartphone market, according to research conducted by U.S. firm Gartner.
The gap in the market between Windows Mobile and the three leading systems–Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) iPhone, Symbian and Android–could also grow in coming years, according to Gartner, which predicts Windows Mobile could fall to fifth place by 2013.
“The primary goal of Windows Mobile 7 is clearly to address Microsoft’s shortcomings in the consumer mobile market. All plaudits for their persistence aside, in my view this is their final chance to get it right,” Charles Golvin of Forrester Research said.
