LAHORE, Pakistan News:Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that people pin high hopes on independent judiciary. They will lose confidence in the institution if speedy justice is not imparted to them.
CJP was addressing a ceremony in Judicial Academy Lahore. He said that dates of cases should be changed into computerized ones. He said that corruption in judiciary has been eliminated. “The judges must do justice by seeing the law not the faces of people, as there is big responsibility now on the judges due to the expectations of the public on the present judiciary,” the CJ stressed. “Today people pin high hopes on the judiciary and the courts will have to live up to that by their conduct,” the CJ said.
President Asif Ali Zardari said some elements don’t like to see him in the Presidency. He said he is not afraid of death, instead he runs after death. He promised to provide cheap electricity, gas and petrol to all.
Addressing a procession in Faisalabad, the President said wearing a turban in Punjab reminded him of the prisons in the province. President said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto sacrificed their lives to serve the nation as the present war was also being fought for the prosperity of the next generation.
President Zardari said Faisalabad provides employment to the poor so the city would receive electricity first and then other cites would receive it. He said the forces have reached near the success in war against terrorism. President said that he can overcome the most difficult challenges. He further said that he would leave no stone unturned to end the shortage of water, electricity or unemployment.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Sunday that India was not ready for any change on Kashmir border, adding that both the countries needed to ensure peace while maintaining the present border.
In an interview with a US TV channel, Indian Premiere accused Pakistan of not safeguarding United States’ interests in Afghanistan, adding that it was not doing satisfying work in investigations of Mumbai terror attacks either. Earlier, talking to media upon his arrival in the US, Manmohan had said that operation against terrorists in Waziristan should be decisive. He had claimed that Pakistan wanted US forces to exit Afghanistan as it wanted its own control over there.
