Avandia

Avandia, DRUG CLASS AND MECHANISM: Rosiglitazone is an oral drug 195d6c187fvandia Avandiathat reduces the amount of sugar (glucose) in the blood. It is used for treating patients with type 2 diabetes and is in a class of anti-diabetic drugs called thiazolidinediones. The other member of this class is pioglitazone (Actos). Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that is important for controlling the levels of glucose in the blood. Insulin stimulates the cells of the body to remove glucose from the blood and thereby lowers the level of glucose in the blood. Patients with type II diabetes cannot make enough insulin. As a result, the cells in their bodies do not remove enough glucose from the blood, and the level of glucose rises. Rosiglitazone often is referred to as an “insulin sensitizer” because it attaches to the insulin receptors on cells throughout the body and causes the cells to become more sensitive (more responsive) to insulin and remove more glucose from the blood. At least some insulin must be produced by the pancreas in order for rosiglitazone to work). Rosiglitazone was approved by the FDA on May 28, 1999.

GENERIC AVAILABLE: No

PRESCRIPTION: Yes

PREPARATIONS: Tablets: 2, 4, and 8 mg.

STORAGE: Tablets should be kept at room temperature, 15-30 C (59-86 F).

PRESCRIBED FOR: Rosiglitazone, combined with diet, exercise, weight control, and cessation of smoking is used for treating type II diabetes. Rosiglitazone may be used alone or in combination with other types of anti-diabetic drugs such as metformin (Glucophage) or sulfonylureas as well as insulin. Since it requires naturally-secreted insulin to be effective, rosiglitazone is not recommended for use in type I diabetes where the amount of insulin is very low or absent.

DOSING: Rosiglitazone may be taken once or twice daily, with or without meals. Daily doses range from 4 to 8 mg either with or without other antidiabetic medications. Studies do not demonstrate additional effects when more than 8mg per day are taken.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Rifampin decreases the blood concentration of rosiglitazone by increasing its breakdown in the liver. Therefore, use of rifampin may decrease the effect of rosiglitazone.

Gemfibrozil (Lopid) increases the concentration of rosiglitazone in the blood by reducing its breakdown. Therefore, rosiglitazone may increase the side effects of rosiglitazone.

PREGNANCY: There are no adequate studies of rosiglitazone in pregnant women.

NURSING MOTHERS: It is unknown if rosiglitazone is secreted in breast milk. Therefore, the safety of rosiglitazone to nursing infants also is unknown.

SIDE EFFECTS AND PRECAUTIONS: The most common side effects seen with rosiglitazone alone or in combination with metformin are upper respiratory tract infection, headache, back pain, hyperglycemia, fatigue, sinusitis, diarrhea, and hypoglycemia. Rosiglitazone has been shown to cause mild to moderate accumulation of fluid (edema) and can lead to heart failure. Patients who already have heart failure may develop worsening symptoms with rosiglitazone. In addition, anemia may occur with rosiglitazone alone or combined with metformin. Rosiglitazone also causes increasing amounts of weight gain with increasing doses.

How Long to cook a turkey per pound

How Long to cook a turkey per poundHow Long to cook a turkey per pound, The turkey roasting time per pound not only determines the taste and flavor of your turkey, but also determine its safety and the latter should be more important than the former.

But how long to cook a turkey per pound should be determined not only by the turkey roasting time, but also the oven temperature. Obviously, the higher the oven temperature, the shorter time you need to roast your turkey.

Generally speaking, the oven temperature should not be lower than 325 o F. Some turkey recipes use an initial temperature of 500 o F at which a 15-pound turkey is roasted for 30 minutes and then cooked at 350 o F for another 2 to 2.5 hours. But that it not definite. You need to watch the inner temperature of the turkey.

As always, the temperature inside the breast or the stuffing or the coldest spot in the turkey should reach a minimal of 165 o F no matter how long you cook a turkey. If you choose to stuff your turkey, combine the dry and wet ingredients just before you cook them. And then fill the turkey’s cavity loosely so that heat can penetrate into the stuffing easily saving some time. That is the USDA advice for the safety concerns.

Turkey roasting times can be decided by following the timetables below which are recommended by the USDA. The same time schedules can be used to decide how long to cook a brined turkey (breast) per pound.

Button Clinches Formula One Title in Brazil

BRAZIL : Button Clinches Formula One Title in Brazil, Jenson Button sealed the drivers’ championship with a sublime recovery drive at a dramatic Brazilian Grand Prix won by Red Bull’s Mark Webber.Button Clinches Formula One Title in Brazil

Brawn’s English driver started from 14th but executed a series of spectacular early overtaking moves before finishing the race fifth.

He was already set to clinch the crown when a late puncture dropped main title threat Rubens Barrichello to eighth.

Brawn still took the constructors’ championship in their debut season.

Barrichello, who badly wanted to win on a circuit he was born in the shadow of, was running third before his unlucky puncture smoothed team-mate Button’s path to the title he seemed destined for since his explosive start to the season.

That race, to me, was worthy of becoming world champion. The perfect way to do it Jenson Button BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica was second ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton while six drivers retired at Interlagos.

Red Bull’s German Sebastian Vettel, who started just behind Button, finished fourth while Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi was a season-best seventh.

Button’s maiden world title overshadowed the grand prix, but the race certainly delivered a fitting scene for a deserved success.

With the stands bubbling over with atmosphere, anticipation was sky-high at the Sao Paulo track where the world championship has now been decided in the past five years. And the drama began as soon the race got under way.

Barrichello made a rapid start while Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen jumped up to third using his energy-boost (Kers) button before suffering front-wing damage in a frenetic first lap.

But a contentious first-lap collision took out Toyota’s Jarno Trulli and Force India’s Adrian Sutil and led the pair to engage in a furious argument at the side of the track – both blaming the other. The crash also took out Renault’s Fernando Alonso.

In all the title excitement, Webber’s superb win was almost overlooked Trulli was later reprimanded and fined $10,000 (£6,140) for his behaviour following the incident.

Seconds later, in the pits, McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen pulled away with the fuel hose still attached to his car.

The leaking fuel immediately caught fire right in Raikkonen’s face, although it quickly died away and both Finn were able to rejoin the race.

After the race, Kovalainen was handed a 25-second penalty, demoting him from ninth to 13th, and McLaren fined $50,000 for releasing him in an unsafe manner.

All the while 29-year-old Button had managed to steer clear, literally, of any trouble to jump up into ninth place after starting the race down in a potentially-disastrous position near the back of the pack.

Buoyed by another stroke of luck in a season in which he has worked so hard for it, he fearlessly set about improving his position with a superb display of bravery and surgeon-like precision once the safety car came in on lap six.

Charging Button first used persistence to take Romain Grosjean’s Renault on the outside to move into eighth before eating up the Williams of Kazuki Nakajima to go seventh and then quickly setting about Toyota’s Kamui Kobayashi. The Japanese Formula 1 debutant defended strongly.

But Button, who had been losing time to Barrichello and Webber up front, used all his nous to dummy himself into a clever pass on lap 24.

Barrichello, meanwhile, had not quite managed to put enough space between himself and Australia’s Webber and the Brazilian lost the lead during the first pit stops.

His hopes of victory faded immediately as he was overtaken by Vettel after rejoining and then got caught up in traffic.

Button continued his aggressive approach despite having moved into a decent position, and after pitting on lap 29 he managed to execute another overtaking manoeuvre as he crucially slipped past Buemi.

Nakajima careered off the track at the end of the back straight on lap 31 after Kobayashi moved over on him.

At this point Webber was clocking fastest laps for fun and team-mate Vettel was driving superbly well, both drivers pushing their impressive Red Bull cars to the limit.

Button – who won six of the first seven races of 2009 but has endured a tough second half of the season – met the test of nerve he faced until the finish head on and in style, unlocking a flood of emotion as he crossed the finish line.

“The last few races have been a bit stressful for me, especially qualifying,” a jubilant Button told BBC Sport.

“But that race today, to me, was worthy of becoming world champion. Kobayashi is absolutely crazy, very aggressive. It was a great race, really enjoyable. That was the perfect way to do it.”

On 89 points, Button heads to Abu Dhabi on 1 November with an unassailable lead in the championship while Vettel has leapfrogged Barrichello into second on 74 with the Brazilian now on 72.

MARK HUGHES COLUMN

How can a driver who took until his seventh season to even win a race really be mentioned in the same breath as such instant legends as Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton? Very easily, actually

“The second half of the season was mine… and I fought really hard. I’m pleased for Jenson as a friend and as a great champion.”

Hamilton started the race from back in 17th but the man who now hands over his world crown to compatriot Button was typically aggressive as he made the most of the circumstances that he encountered to finish on the podium.

Following investigation by stewards after the race Kovalainen was awarded a drive-through penalty for his mishap in the pits, a 25-second addition to his final time which drops him to 13th position.

McLaren also received a £30,000 fine for releasing him in an unsafe manner.

Stewards decided to take ‘no further action’ on the Sutil-Trulli incident, though Toyota’s Italian was fined £6,000 for failing to leave the track as required and confronting Sutil in an aggressive manner.

Nakajima retired after his crash mid-way through, while Nico Rosberg and Nick Heidfeld could not make the distance.

Though she was not very well known, the way she was killed by her ex husband and reality star has aggrieved people more. Many people have not been able to come to terms with the gruesome killing of a model like Jasmine Fiore. They are saying that the killer, her former husband and the reality star Ryan Jenkins be given exemplary punishment.

They are also asking the federal government to increase the hunt down Jenkins as soon as possible.

California prosecutors have charged the star of “Megan Wants a Millionaire”, Ryan Alexander Jenkins with the murder of his 28-year-old ex-wife and former model Jasmine Fiore. Fiore’s mutilated body was found naked in a suitcase in a trash bin here earlier this week. Her fingers and teeth were found missing.
Jasmine Fiore Playboy
Buena Park Chief of Police Tom Monson said police received information Wednesday that Jenkins could have escaped to Canada. Police agencies across Canada were on the lookout for Jenkins after US officials suggested he likely fled more than 1,600 kilometers from southern California to sneak back into the country. However, Peter Van Loan, Federal Public Safety Minister said reports that Jenkins had crossed the border were unconfirmed, but police were watching for him. His car and an empty boat trailer were found at a Point Roberts, just south of Vancouver that can only be reached by land from Canada, said Tom Monson.

After reporting Fiore missing Saturday night to the Los Angeles County sheriff’s department, Jenkins cut off contact with police. Jasmine Fiore was last seen alive with Jenkins at a poker game in San Diego. A preliminary coroner’s report indicated she was strangled.

FM Krishna To Visit Australia On 6th August

NEW DELHI: Foreign minister S M Krishna goes to Australia on a five-day visit on Aug 6 to ascertain first-hand the problems faced by IndianFM Krishna To Visit Australia On 6th August
students, some of whom have been victims of allegedly racist attacks, and the steps taken by Canberra to ensure their safety.

This will be the first high-level visit from India to Australia since a spate of attacks on Indian students studying in that country began over a month ago, creating outrage in India and the diaspora community Down Under.

Krishna will meet his Australian counterpart Stephen Smith and call on Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to discuss a range of issues, including the recent attacks on Indian students that has put an otherwise growing relationship under strain.

“He will visit Sydney and Melbourne to hear first-hand, about the problems being faced by Indian students and will discuss the matter of their safety and security with the state leadership,” the external affairs ministry said here Friday ahead of Krishna’s visit.

He will “also apprise himself of the measures put in place, in this regard, by the Australian law enforcement agencies” and meet prominent members of the Indian community and Indian students, the ministry said.

He will also participate in the Annual Post Forum Dialogue Meeting of the 16-nation Pacific Island Forum (PIF), at which India is a dialogue partner, in Cairns in northeast Australia.

Last week, Smith assured Krishna when the two met in the Thai island resort of Phuket that the Australian government was doing everything possible to ensure the safety of nearly 100,000 Indian students in that country.

Smith discounted the allegedly racist nature of the attacks and explained the background against which they have taken place, arguing that they were primarily ‘law and order problems’.

Australia has sent three high-profile delegations, including its education minister and immigration minister, to India to allay anxieties about the safety of Indian students and to project the country as a ’safe education destination’.

Nearly 100,000 Indian students study in Australia, contributing around $2 billion to the country’s economy.
