Sunita Williams

Latest News Update Sunita Williams:I’ve been very busy with work lately, which is taking me away from blogging. I can’t get myself to sit in front of a computer after a long day of looking at code and scripts.2d1d8a7c40lliams Sunita Williams

After the weekend, I was about to write about the achievements of Sunita Williams. Then, came the unexpected news of Lisa Nowak and her diaper story that dominated our TV screens. When I first read the story, I thought to myself, “Oh dear, this can’t be RIGHT.” Then, I thought to myself again, “Wait, that makes NASA astronauts as human as us. Cool. Now I don’t feel bad about not becoming an astronaut.”

This was definitely the last thing NASA needed. Like any family, NASA has its share of people who don’t get along for some reason or another. Like many families, the NASA family keeps up appearances very well. Unfortunately, this weird incident may make it harder for the brightest among us to get into the space program.

Nasa:Space Shuttle Can Fly Beyond 2010, If Money is There

Nasa:Space Shuttle Can Fly Beyond 2010, If Money is ThereWASHINGTON : The US space shuttle fleet can continue flying beyond Nasa’s September 30 deadline if the money is made available to keep it going, a US space agency official told reporters on Tuesday.

“I think the real issue that the agency and the nation has to address is the expense,” said Space Shuttle Program Manager John Shannon, noting the shuttle fleet costs the National Aeronautics and Space Administration 200 million dollars per month to maintain it in working condition.

“Where that money comes from is the big question,” he added.

Shannon’s briefing was about Nasa’s April 5 Discovery mission to the orbiting International Space Station (ISS), one of three shuttle flights remaining before the program is shut down at the end of September after 29 years of service.

Several lawmakers have recently urged the shuttle program be extended to reduce US dependency on Russia’s Soyuz spacecrafts in order to continue building the ISS until the shuttle’s successor can take off by 2015 at the earliest.

Taking up her colleagues’ concerns, Republican Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison last week presented a bill calling for extending the shuttle program beyond its termination deadline.

On presenting his 2011 budget plan in January, US President Barack Obama confirmed the shuttle fleet’s demise this year, as well as dropping the Constellation program his predecessor George W. Bush announced in 2004 to return Americans to the moon by 2020.

Constellation included the development of the Ares 1 rocket, and its abandonment has also put into question the feasibility of the shuttle’s successor spacecraft.

Obama also asked Nasa to partner with the private sector, using funds from an economic stimulus package to develop low-cost, primary services transporting astronauts to the ISS.

Chile Earthquake Earth Axis

Chile Earthquake Earth Axis, JPL research scientist Richard Gross 23dcdeabcah axis Chile Earthquake Earth Axiscomputed how Earth’s rotation should have changed as a result of the Feb. 27 quake. Using a complex model, he and fellow scientists came up with a preliminary calculation that the quake should have shortened the length of an Earth day by about 1.26 microseconds (a microsecond is one millionth of a second).

Photo of Earth From SpacePerhaps more impressive is how much the quake shifted Earth’s axis. Gross calculates the quake should have moved Earth’s figure axis (the axis about which Earth’s mass is balanced) by 2.7 milliarcseconds (about 8 centimeters, or 3 inches). Earth’s figure axis is not the same as its north-south axis; they are offset by about 10 meters (about 33 feet).

By comparison, Gross said the same model estimated the 2004 magnitude 9.1 Sumatran earthquake should have shortened the length of day by 6.8 microseconds and shifted Earth’s axis by 2.32 milliarcseconds (about 7 centimeters, or 2.76 inches).

Gross said that even though the Chilean earthquake is much smaller than the Sumatran quake, it is predicted to have changed the position of the figure axis by a bit more for two reasons. First, unlike the 2004 Sumatran earthquake, which was located near the equator, the 2010 Chilean earthquake was located in Earth’s mid-latitudes, which makes it more effective in shifting Earth’s figure axis. Second, the fault responsible for the 2010 Chiliean earthquake dips into Earth at a slightly steeper angle than does the fault responsible for the 2004 Sumatran earthquake. This makes the Chile fault more effective in moving Earth’s mass vertically and hence more effective in shifting Earth’s figure axis.

US Space Shuttle Endeavour On Its Way Back

US space shuttle Endeavour on its way backAstronauts from the US space shuttle Endeavour have said their farewells to the crew of the International Space Station, after more than a week on the orbiting outpost.
The hatches between the shuttle and the space station were closed early Friday, ahead of Endeavour’s departure. Earlier, the combined crews celebrated the latest addition to the space station with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, dedicating the Tranquility observation deck and its observation dome. The US space agency NASA says the crews left a moon rock that was carried to the summit of Mount Everest by a former astronaut. Tranquility and the dome were installed during the current shuttle mission. Endeavour is scheduled to land Sunday night at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Space Shuttle On Course For Midnight Rendezvous

4676d03d90launch Space Shuttle On Course For Midnight RendezvousEndeavour zoomed toward a midnight rendezvous with the International Space Station late Tuesday, and NASA grew ever more optimistic that the shuttle is free of any launch damage.
All the pictures and information collected during the first two days of the flight indicate Endeavour suffered no serious damage during Monday’s liftoff. But the analysis is continuing, and a few hundred photos taken from the space station during Endeavour’s final approach will yield additional data, said LeRoy Cain, chairman of the mission management team.
Endeavour and its crew of six were due to arrive at the space station a few minutes after midnight Tuesday, delivering a new room and domed lookout. They will spend more than a week there, installing the compartments and helping with space station maintenance.

Katrina Kaif Tops Most Desirable Women List

c4723c1331n list Katrina Kaif Tops Most Desirable Women ListKatrina Kaif Tops Most Desirable Women List, It was the toughest cat-fight ever. No clawing over men, movies or more moolah, yet, this was the most sexed-up Katrina Kaif ‘war-of-the-beauty-brigade’ we’ve ever witnessed. One stunning beauty against another. One irresistible diva, against a divine earthy beauty. One seductress against another sex-bomb.

Whether it is Katrina’s sweet sexuality and the line-up of gorgeous men trying to woo and win her; or Kareena’s continuing size-zero phenomenon along with the super sexy Khans teaming up with her. Priyanka’s high glam-quotient (read: her micro minis can’t get any ‘hauter’) and the numerous avatars she portrays on-screen or Bipasha’s sheer sizzle, with or without Johnny boy. And, of course, Deepika’s sensational love (aaj kal, we mean) —whatever are the reasons, this is what makes these gals so desirable. Yet, only one of ‘em wins the cat-race – of beauty, sensuality and desirability. On the ‘most-vaunted’ hot list of the year – the ‘ZOOM 50 Most Desirable People’ of the year. Yeah, let us put our hands together, as ZOOM declares Katrina Kaif the winner of its annual list, which every hottie in B-town desires to be on.

Priyanka Chopra, who won the ‘desirable’ title last year thanks to her gold swimsuit and her Fashion act, is now at No. 3. Kareena ranks No. 2 in the ‘D’ race this year, and the Bong beauty Bipasha ranks fourth, followed by Deepika, Lara Dutta and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Katrina’s gorgeous smile, her super successful Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and De Dana Dan, her stunning cameo in Blue; her sexy micro-skirts and her cool tees, her immense popularity globally among the trendset, and her fashionably seductive cat-walk even, for Salman, won her all the eye-balls in town. Adding the new ‘desirable’ title to her long list of accolades, Katrina says, “Wow! That does feel so amazing. And it feels especially good when you are voted by the people – your fans and the media – themselves. After all, ZOOM is the doyen of glamour and their word is the last word. It’s been a good year professionally and now this. I have been winning the ‘Most Searched For on Internet’, and ‘Most Popular’ polls, but to be the ‘Most Desired Woman in India’ – it’s kinda cool. I guess I’ll have to jump on the ZOOM couch again. I’m so excited.”

The ‘ZOOM – 50 Most Desirable’ poll is decided by an in-house jury, SMS polling, online voting and general popularity that year of the celebrity – based on Desirability Quotient for THAT calendar year. Watch this space for more on this much desired list. This is hot enough to scorch any man’s wildest imagination. It can’t get hotter than this, can it?

Vinny Cerrato Resigns

Vinny Cerrato Resigns Breaking news :- Vinny Cerrato resigns as Redskins executive vice-president.

Vinny Cerrato, the much-maligned Washington Redskins executive vice-president of football operations, resigned this morning, nearly two years after becoming the organization’s de facto general manager.

The timing of the resignation is strange, but what else would you expect from the Redskins front office? It likely means that Snyder has a beat on Mike Holmgren or Bill Cowher and Mike Shanahan and wants to strike now while he still can. Dragging his feet is only going to lead to getting a guy he doesn’t really want, sort of like what happened two years ago when he was forced to hire Jim Zorn against his will.

What this means for Zorn is anyone’s guess. Cerrato hired him so you’d figure this would be it for him, but if Holmgren comes to D.C., could he play Parcells to Zorn’s Tony Sparano?

Those are all questions for later though. For now, all Redskins fans need to care about is the fact that Vinny Cerrato is finally gone.

Web Hosting Unlimited

Web Hosting Unlimited :- Finding best hosting service for your website can be complicated. There are almost endless options all clamoring to be the top hosts or the least expensive service, and this can make it almost impossible for webmasters to sort fact from fiction. The best way to select a quality web host is to take the selection process one step at a time:

Your Needs

The very first item to address in selecting the best hosting service for your needs is to actually identify what those needs are. What sort of website are looking to host? Small personal homepages will have very different hosting criteria from large company websites. To find the best hosting service for you, it is important to determine exactly what you plan to host now, and ideally take into consideration anything you are planning to host in the immediate future.

Price

Different hosting companies offer a large variety of rates. Companies offering dedicated servers will be substantially higher than others offering budget hosting with limited bandwidth. Competition from overseas is priced temptingly low for many, but there are many factors to consider. Don’t stop at price, and if you plan on using your website in a professional capacity, it is important to move beyond free web hosting. Free hosts are great for small family or fun sites, but are not suited to the needs of internet marketers – even those just starting out. Rate should not be a top determining factor until you have narrowed a list based on other criteria such as:

Reliability and Speed for web sites

The best hosting services will offer uptime of over 99%. This should be a guarantee to motivate the company to keep all servers up all the time. Of course, visitors should also be able to access your site quickly.

Data Transfer and Disk Space ( Unlimited ) ( Web Hosting Unlimited )

Bandwidth requirements grow with your site. Web hosting companies pay for bandwidth, so you, the one using that bandwidth will be billed accordingly. It is far better to pay for the required amount of data transfer upfront rather than get a surprise bill in the mail for having gone considerably over your allotted amount. By the same token, be sure you have an appropriate amount of disk space reserved. Most websites require less than 3GB.

Technical Support

It is very important to be able to reach the hosting company if your website begins experiencing problems. The best hosting support one can hope for is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Most companies know this, so take their stated hours with a grain of salt. Always spot check the companies with email at random times to see if they really have someone available to help 24/7.

Scripts

Different websites have different needs, and the best hosting service for you should accommodate those needs. Email addresses should be standard as well as the capacity for a variety of scripts. Be sure to see if other features like shopping carts and secure servers are available or standard.
