Chhattisgarh: Indian security forces and Maoist rebels clashed in Chhattisgarh State of India. A moist rebel was killed in the firing exchange in thick forests of Bejapur.
The Indian government, which is under pressure to stop the rampage of Maoists around the country, is in turn pushing the paramilitary forces to start its anti-Maoist operations at the earliest and show results. The home ministry had brought together seven states and three paramilitary forces to start the coordinated efforts against Maoists, especially in Chhattisgarh where the red brigade is enjoying a free run.
NEW DELHI: Indian President Pratibha Patil did today what no woman before her has ever done – fly in a Sukhoi-30MKI, an Indian Air Force fighter jet. The Sukhoi took off from the Lohegaon Air Force base near Pune and will do a sortie of 30-minute.
The air force base is all decked up for the sortie on Wednesday morning, IAF Wing Commander T.K. Singha told. Upon her arrival around 9 am, Patil, the supreme commander of the armed forces, was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour by the air-warriors. She will then have breakfast since she cannot fly on an empty stomach.
The president, who is 74 years old, will then change into a special G-Suit (anti-gravity suit), which helps the flier withstand high gravitational pressure by preventing excessive blood from flowing to the brain.
To make the experience a memorable one for President Patil, two more Sukhois will fly beside her aircraft to enable her to gain an experience of how fighter jets look in flight at that altitude and at such high speeds.
