Bobby Frankel updates, Bobby Frankel Dead: Frankel Dies Of Cancer At 68.

Bobby Frankel, who won the 2003 Belmont Stakes with Empire Maker, has died after a long bout with cancer. He was 68.

Jockey agent Ron Anderson said Frankel died early Monday at home in Pacific Palisades. Frankel had been running his stable by phone for most of the year while he was undergoing treatment.

Frankel began his training career by turning lowly claiming horses into stakes winners, and wound up with earnings of more than $200 million.

“He started at the bottom and worked his way to the top of our profession,” said Anderson, who booked riders on horses trained by Frankel over the years. “He was a very kindhearted person that had people that worked for him for 20, 30 years, which is almost unheard of around the racetrack.”

Frankel enjoyed his greatest success this decade, winning four consecutive Eclipse Awards as the nation’s leading trainer from 2000-2003, and five overall. He oversaw a nationwide string of horses, with Khalid Abdullah-owned Juddmonte Farms as one of his major clients.

The investigation into the disappearance of Shaniya Davis yielded the arrest of her mother and two other men, though one man was later released. Searchers found Shaniya dumped into the woods 30 miles from her hometown in Fayetteville. Hundreds of volunteers hoping to find her alive left the site of the search dejected, unable to bring Shaniya home to an emotional father, her 7-year-old brother and the dolls she loved to play with.

ccording to a new report by the Associated Press issued earlier on November 16 authorities searched for the girl’s body that they at first thought might be found alive.

Shaniya Davis had been missing since Tuesday, November 10, and the most recent search took place earlier on November 16, according to Fayetteville, North Carolina police.

Another person who has been charged with kidnapping in this case is Mario Andrette McNeil, 29, who was seen carrying Shaniya in a hotel’s surveillance camera.

Police have not stated whether or not Davis and McNeil know each other, and said that Davis doesn’t yet have an attorney.

Syd Severe of Raleigh was one of the many volunteers who helped in the search for Shaniya. He told reporters that he didn’t believe in the death penalty, but those responsible for Shaniya’s death deserved it.

Shaniya’s father, Bradley Lockhart, had raised the little girl for several years but decided last month to allow her to go live with her mother.

SRINAGAR: While demanding an apology from the Karnataka police, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Saturday lodged a strong
protest against the arrest of its two players in Bangalore where they had gone to participate in a national championship.

“Our boys were harassed and then released. The Bangalore police should apologise for the harassment of players. The JKCA will decide tomorrow (Sunday) whether or not the team should withdraw from the tournament,” general secretary of JKCA Saleem Khan said.

Describing the Saturday’s incident as ‘most unfortunate and shocking’ Khan said, “We are in touch with our president and Union Minister Farooq Abdullah to decide the future course of action.”

He said the team had been accommodated inside a hostel in the stadium complex by the hosts and their baggage had been checked during check-in Friday.
