Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has admitted that delay in judges’ restoration was his biggest mistake.
During an interview with a UK daily Financial Times, Gilani admitted that “I should have restored the judiciary in the beginning. That is my biggest mistake. Then we would have not wasted our energies on each other. It would have been better that we would have concentrated on the people of Pakistan”.
Enlisting the achievements of the incumbent government Gilani said, “The successes are that we have very ably completed two years with consensus in parliament. We did a lot of legislation. The biggest success is that we have gathered the whole nation together on one platform for fight against terrorism and that is the biggest victory ever. The other biggest victory is accommodating 2.5million IDPs to go back to their homes in the shortest possible time of three months”.
Replying to a question on US-Pak strategic dialogue the PM said, “We want to have a very meaningful and result-oriented meeting in the United States”.
On Afghanistan he said, “Pakistan is the only country which can help Afghanistan and you cannot achieve stability in Afghanistan without Pakistan.”
LAHORE: The death toll in two blasts at R A Bazaar in Lahore cantonment area on Friday has reached to 13, while 40 others were injured.
The relief teams and ambulances reached to the spot of the blasts and started relief operations after the twin explosions.
Police and security agencies personnel have cordoned off the area.
According to state television two blasts occurred in the area. The sounds of fire were heard after the first blast and than another blast occurred.
The injured were being transferred to hospitals. Several passersby were hit by the bullets in firing after the first explosion, reports said.
According to eyewitness account that the first blast was occurred in a car and another in a motorcycle.
The injured also included women and children, reports said. The authorities have declared emergency in Lahore hospitals.
The roads leading to the cantonment areas have been closed.

Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin has give his resignation to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gialni today, Dunya News reported.
Talking to Dunya News, Tarin said that he quit owing to personal reasons. He said that both the President and PM were unhappy over his decision; however, he added that good governance called for distinction between personal business and post.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Monday said that parliament is elected by 17 crore people of Pakistan therefore dishonoring it was not fair.
“All the people sitting here are elected; they have not entered from the backdoors. It was the power of masses and the parliament through with the sacked judiciary was restored,” Gilani said while addressing National Assembly session.
He said his government would have no objection if parliament empowers Chief Justice of Pakistan to appointment judges.
“We will not object if the National Assembly itself transfers powers of appointment of judges to the Chief Justice of Pakistan.”
LAHORE, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Nawaz Sharif was working to strengthen democracy in the country, adding that the PML-N chief reposed trust in him.
During an interview to ‘Policy Matters’, a current affairs programme of TV, the Premier said Nawaz wanted all the institutions to work properly and within their ambit and did not want to derail democracy in the country. He said he wanted Nawaz to be elected in the Parliament and play his due role. Hailing the COAS, the PM said that he was a good professional, adding that he always supported democracy and supremacy of parliament. Gilani observed that US has been asked to stop the drone attacks forthwith and added that Pakistan has a clear stance on the issue.

KARACHI, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan has no expansionist intentions in the region. Addressing a ceremony regarding the inclusion of PNS Shamsher in Pak Navy, the Premier said that Pakistan was doing more than its capabilities to eliminate the anti-peace powers in the world. The PM observed that self-sufficiency in arms production was the need of hour and vowed to provide the army with modern equipment despite the economic crunch. He noted that Pakistan, China ties were very deep and based on mutual trust, and added that the inclusion of PNS Shamsher would further boost the ties. Speaking on the occasion, Admiral Nauman said that F22P Frigate has been prepared in view of the Pak Navy’s requirements, while the third frigate was being prepared. Lahore, Pakistan News :- Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, as a humanitarian gesture, has decided to unilaterally release 100 Indian fishermen who have been in Pakistani custody.
The Prime Minister has instructed the Interior Ministry to make necessary arrangements for their repatriation to India on December 24.To resolve the issue of prisoners and fishermen in each other’s custody, Pakistan has also proposed to India the revival of the Judicial Committee on Prisoners between the two countries.

LAHORE, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the supremacy of Parliament would be maintained, adding that he believes in an unbiased accountability and vowed to take everyone on board vis-à-vis the new accountability bill.
The PM stated this during a meeting with Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, who called on him at his residence in Defence, Lahore on Monday.
During an hour long meeting, both the leaders agreed to avoid political conflict in the country. Gilani said that the government would give good news to the nation regarding the 17th amendment soon.CM Shahbaz Sharif while talking on the occasion said that PML-N did not believe in confrontational politics and always preferred the national interests. Shahbaz also observed that the decisions of the constitutional institutions be acted upon in view of the country’s situation.
